Fundamentals of Item Response Theory
TLDR
This research attacked the mode-based approach to item response theory with a model- data fit approach, and found that the model-Data Fit approach proved to be more accurate than the other approaches.Abstract:

Short screening scales to monitor population prevalences and trends in non-specific psychological distress.
Ronald C. Kessler,Gavin Andrews,L J Colpe,Eva Hiripi,Daniel K. Mroczek,Sharon-Lise T. Normand,E. E. Walters,Alan M. Zaslavsky +7 more
TL;DR: The brevity, strong psychometric properties, and ability to discriminate DSM-IV cases from non-cases make the K10 and K6 attractive for use in general-purpose health surveys.

Constructing validity: Basic issues in objective scale development
Lee Anna Clark,David Watson +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss theoretical principles, practical issues, and pragmatic decisions to help developers maximize the construct validity of scales and subscales, and propose factor analysis as a crucial role in ensuring unidimensionality and discriminant validity.

An item response theory analysis of self-report measures of adult attachment.
TL;DR: The authors show how IRT techniques can be used to develop new attachment scales with desirable psychometric properties, and indicate that commonly used attachment scales can be improved in a number of important ways.

Assessing health status and quality-of-life instruments: Attributes and review criteria
TL;DR: The SAC's current conceptualization of eight key attributes of health status and QoL instruments and the criteria by which instruments would be reviewed on each of those attributes are offered.
Assessing health status and quality-of-life instruments: Attributes and review
Neil K. Aaronson,Jordi Alonso,Audrey Bur,Kathleen N. Lohr,Donald L. Patrick,Edward B. Perrin +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the SAC's current conceptualization of eight key attributes of health status and QoL instruments (i.e., conceptual and measurement model; reliability; validity; responsiveness; interpretability; respondent and administrative burden; alternate forms; and cultural and language adaptations) and the criteria by which instruments would be reviewed on each of those attributes are presented.

Applications of Item Response Theory To Practical Testing Problems
TL;DR: The application of item response theory to practical testing problems is discussed in this article, where the authors present an example of the application of the theory to real-world testing problems in a practical setting.

A Rasch Model for Partial Credit Scoring.
TL;DR: In this paper, an unidimensional latent trait model for responses scored in two or more ordered categories is developed, which can be viewed as an extension of Andrich's Rating Scale model to situations in which ordered response alternatives are free to vary in number and structure from item to item.

Likert Scaling Using the Graded Response Latent Trait Model
TL;DR: In this paper, a two-parameter graded response latent trait model was applied to data collected from a constructively constructed Likert-type attitude scale, and the results demonstrated that the graded response model could be successfully used to perform attitude measurement for likert scales, and also studied the goodness of fit of the graded re sponse model and the information function feature of the model indicating the precision of measurement at each level of the attitude trait continuum.
