Yeast and mold counts from Potato Dextrose Agar containing antibiotics were much higher than those obtained in the acidified medium, and growth of bacteria was never a problem.
Abstract
Antibiotics were far superior to acidification for controlling bacteria when counting fungi in foods. Yeast and mold counts from Potato Dextrose Agar containing antibiotics were much higher than those obtained in the acidified medium, and growth of bacteria was never a problem. When incubation temperatures of 32 and 22 C were compared, more colonies appeared at 22 C.

The Use of Solid Media for Detection of Enzyme Production by Fungi

TL;DR: Solid media are described on which the production of the extracellular enzymes amylase, lipase, DNA- and RNAase, pectinase, protease, urease, and chitinase were detected.

Toxins of molds from decaying tomato fruit.

TL;DR: Among 27 mold isolates from decaying tomatoes, culture filtrates or ethyl acetate extracts of 8 isolates grown in yeast extract-sucrose medium were markedly toxic to brine shrimp larvae, and these mycotoxins may occur at detectable levels in tomato products whenever partially moldy tomatoes are used as raw material.

Selective media for detecting and enumerating foodborne yeasts.

TL;DR: There is need for new and improved media for selectively isolating various groups, genera, species and strains of yeasts capable of growing only under specific environmental conditions in specific types of foods and beverages.
