TLDR
In this article, the growth behavior of surface fatigue cracks in the circumferential plane of solid and hollow cylinders was studied and a modification to the usual nondimensionalization expression used for surface flaws in flat plates was found to give correct trends for the hollow cylinder problem.Abstract:
Experiments were conducted to study the growth behavior of surface fatigue cracks in the circumferential plane of solid and hollow cylinders. In the solid cylinders, the fatigue cracks were found to have a circular arc crack front with specific upper and lower limits to the arc radius. In the hollow cylinders, the fatigue cracks were found to agree accurately with the shape of a transformed semiellipse. A modification to the usual nondimensionalization expression used for surface flaws in flat plates was found to give correct trends for the hollow cylinder problem.read more

TL;DR: In this paper, a lower bound resistance curve was obtained, which introduced artificial defects of size corresponding to that of the largest occurring defects, and the same concepts were then applied in a fatigue crack growth simulation model based on the maximum defect size, for estimating both the life and scatter of the data in the region of elastic material response.

Shape change of surface cracks in round bars under cyclic axial loading
TL;DR: In this paper, an elliptical-arc surface crack in a round bar under cyclic axial loading with constant amplitude is considered, and the stress-intensity factor along the crack front is calculated through a finite-element analysis by employing isoparametric solid elements.

Elliptical‐arc surface cracks in round bars
TL;DR: In this paper, the crack aspect ratio influence on the stress-intensity factor of elliptical-arc edge flaws in solid round bars under tension or bending loading is discussed. And the relative crack depth between the depth a of the crack's deepest point and the bar diameter D ranges from 0.1 to 0.6.

Probabilistic Life Prediction for Reinforced Concrete Structures Subjected to Seasonal Corrosion-Fatigue Damage
TL;DR: In this paper, a probabilistic life prediction framework for reinforced concrete (RC) structures is proposed, where the coupled effect of corrosion and fatigue deteriorates the performance of reinforced concrete structures.
