TLDR
In this article, a high Reynolds number turbulence model is proposed for the countercurrent flow of air and water in a vertical circular pipe, where hot water is introduced through a porous section at the upper end of a test section and flows downward as a thin liquid film on the pipe wall.

Cocurrent turbulent mixed convection heat and mass transfer in falling film of water inside a vertical heated tube

TL;DR: In this article, a detailed numerical study has been conducted in order to analyze the combined buoyancy effects of thermal and mass diffusion on the turbulent mixed convection tube flows under different conditions, and the results indicate that convection of heat by the flowing water film becomes the main mechanism for heat removal from the wall.

Interfacial friction factor in vertical upward gas-liquid annular two-phase follow

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present new data on the gas-liquid interfacial friction factor in annular two-phase upward co-current flow in a vertical circular pipe, taking into consideration the effect of the entrained droplets which occur from the breakup of the disturbance waves.

Experimental investigation of heat and mass transfer characteristics in direct contact exchanger

TL;DR: In this article, an innovative design of a direct contact exchanger was developed using internal volume of short vertical tubes as an active zone of heat and mass transfer, and the empirical relations for calculating convective heat transfer between hot water and atmospheric air in flooding flow at air inlet velocity of 4-11m/s, inlet air temperature of 11-18°C, and inlet water relative humidity of 63-88% were obtained.

Gas-wall shear stress distribution in horizontal stratified two-phase flow

TL;DR: In this article, the non-dimensional relationship between the Preston tube reading and wall shear stress over a wide range of single-phase gas flow rates is reported, up to positions close to the gas-liquid interface, for various interface conditions.

An impedance method for the measurement of liquid hold-up in two-phase flow

TL;DR: In this article, a liquid hold-up gauge based on the measurement of the electrical impedance has been developed for application in gas-liquid pipe flow, which consists of two ring electrodes mounted flush to the pipe wall.

Hydrodynamic characteristics of counter-current two-phase flow in vertical and inclined channels: effects of liquid properties

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of liquid viscosity on gas hold-up and flow patterns was investigated in a 2 m-long channel with 1.9 cm inner diameter, using air, and demineralized water, mineral and paraffinic oils.

On the nature of ephemeral waves in vertical annular flow

TL;DR: In this paper, a model to determine the film Reynolds number has been developed, and is used to show that the onset of disturbance waves and of ephemeral waves happens at a substrate Reynolds number of about 500.
