INTERPOLATIVE PCM DECODER UTILIZED FOR .mu.-LAW AND A-LAW
TLDR
In this article, an interpolative PCM decoder was proposed to convert PCM signals having polarity bits, segment selection bits and uniform quantization bits into an analog signal.Abstract:
An interpolative PCM decoder converts PCM signals having polarity bits, segment selection bits and uniform quantization bits into an analog signal. The PCM decoder may be used both for μ-law and A-law conversion by use of simple circuits and includes an AND gate circuit which produces a logical product between a selection signal for selecting a minimum unit of an analog value of a lower end of a segment and a control signal for change-over between the μ-law and the A-law, and a circuit generating the same analog values as the minimum unit of the analog value in accordance with an output of the AND gate circuit.read more

μ-Law/A-law PCM CODEC
TL;DR: In this paper, a binary-weighted charge redistribution capacitor array is designed to be configured for either μ-law or A-law coding by controlling a single gate circuit, and a unique cascaded switch arrangement ensures that when selected capacitors representative of a specified coding segment are connected to a reference voltage source, the next successive capacitor of the array is automatically connected to the variable source that provides a voltage representative of the step within the specified segment.

Pulse code modulation compression mechanism
TL;DR: In this article, a pulse code modulation (PCM) unit is connected to a bus in a computer system and connected to the bus is a processor and memory, and the PCM unit reads uncompressed PCM data from the memory over the bus and compresses the data for transmission over the telephone line in a cycle steal operation, wherein the bus was not being used by the processor.

Interpolative Digital-to-Analog Converters
TL;DR: High-speed operation of interpolative D/A converters reduces the need for many finely spaced analog signal amplitudes, a tradeoff which is especially desirable for integrated circuit implementation.

Digital-to-analog converter using differently decoded bit groups
TL;DR: In this paper, the first and most significant bit groups are registered and periodically sampled for conversion in a resistor network to an analog format, and bits of the second bit group are incremented at a rate equal to the sampling rate.

Digital-to-analog decoder utilizing time interpolation and reversible accumulation
TL;DR: In this paper, the average value of an analog signal derived from the changing most significant bit group information in each subinterval is equal to the value represented by the character, and the selectable sequences are determined by the value of the least significant bit groups of the character.
