The patriarchal model of society in the late nineteenth century joined quite naturally in the Spanish health service, being out of the question that the nurse was absolutely subject to the doctor, without any more autonomus own space. Despite the great progress lived in the nursing science, going from occupation to profession and the disappearance of the practitioner-healer-man and woman-nurse-caregiver division, professionals still face challenges related to its image.

OBJECTIVE: Describe the current situation of complementary therapies in nursing education in schools and nursing schools in Spain. METHOD: Descriptive study. Study population all faculties andschools ascribed to Spain. Data collection through observation sheet. Analysis units Curricula. Variables (credits, course type, location, type of therapy). Descriptive analysis of relative and absolute data using Excel spreadsheet. RESULTS: Most of the faculties and schoolsofnursingscrutinized the subject of Complementary Therapies has disappeared and those that aparace is an optional subject. CONCLUSION: Complementary Therapies training in Spain is deficient because it is not collected as a core subject and / or obligatory. The absence of Complementary Therapies in the curriculum, questions such as their value in training, conceptualization which teachers, the impact on quality of care, training of teachers responsible for teaching the subject, as well as the number of credits and the course being in the degree of Grado.

El presente articulo muestra la propuesta de un modelo de cuidado de enfermeria para la mujer que padece cancer de mama. Esto surge de la inquietud y el interes de conocer la situacion actual que ellas vivencian en un contexto de cuidado. Este acercamiento a la realidad de manera objetiva y subjetiva permitio identificar que es lo que realiza enfermeria en la practica para el cuidado de la mujer con cancer de mama que acude a la quimioterapia ambulatoria y de esta manera encontrar areas de oportunidades y mejorar el cuidado. E ste trabajo se realizo en instituciones de salud . Al reflexionar acerca de los datos obtenidos, se origina la propuesta de realizar un modelo con la finalidad de integrar la dimension espiritual al cuidado que brinda el profesional de enfermeria a las mujeres que padecen el cancer de mama. Surgiendo elementos tales como: espiritualidad, enfermera, mujer con cancer de mama, cuidado de enfermeria y el apoyo familiar. Finalmente el desarrollo de este modelo, integrando la dimension espiritual conlleva a un crecimiento personal y profesional en los enfermeros y a la sanacion de las mujeres que vivencian el cancer de mama. Ademas, implica que los enfermeros faciliten la comunicacion centrado en lo espiritual armoniosamente durante el cuidado. Abstract The present article shows the proposal of a nursing care model for women whom suffer breast cancer; this arises from the interest and concern about knowing the current situation they live through, in a care context. This approach to the reality in an objective and subjective way; allowed identifying what does nursery do at practice, for the care of the woman with breast cancer that goes to the ambulatory chemotherapy, and in this way, to find opportunity areas and care improvement. This was made at institutions of health through the stay at two institutions of similar characteristics.  When reflecting about the collected data, the proposal to make a model is originated with the purpose of integrating the spiritual dimension to the caring that the nursing professional offers to the women that suffer from breast cancer. Arising elements such as: spirituality, nurse, woman with breast cancer, nursing care and, the family support. Finally the development of this model, integrating the spiritual dimension entails to a personal and professional growth in the nurses and the healing of the women whom live with breast cancer. Modelo de cuidado de enfermería para la mujer con cáncer de mama a través de la integración de la dimensión espiritual.

Purpose: To analyze the general characteristics of the presence of men in nursing history, along with the actual tendency of increase in this profession. Development: Contrary to the perceptions of many people, nursing has been a field dominated by men during the majority of human history. Only men were considered “pure” enough to become nurses, this job being associated to magic, religion and also, to the military, this stage being known as nonprofessional nursing. On the other hand, professional nursing originated with Florence Nigthingale and it has been associated to the jobs of women, whose initial training, given by nuns, refused to acknowledge the considerations of men. Therefore, in the 60s in Chile studying Nursing was exclusively for women. This event is causing as a result an undervaluing of its tasks. Moreover, it has diminished merit and recognition of the profession, which is why the masculine entrance has been perceived as a positive fact that counteracts some deficiencies caused by the old biomedical system. At present, there exists an important tendency of the entrance of men, making it possible to refer to a nursing masculinization. This phenomenon is related to good career projections, an ample job field, good salaries, and the scientific-humanist professional character of the present era of the Chilean nursing based in care management.
