In this article, several land use and cover maps of Narathiwat province are derived from various single band, three-band color combinations, using unsupervised and supervised classifications of Landsat Thematic Mapper data available at the INRDM Program, Asian Institute of Technology.
Abstract
Several land useAand cover maps of Narathiwat province are derived from various single band, three‐band color combinations, using unsupervised and supervised classifications of Landsat Thematic Mapper data available at the INRDM Program, Asian Institute of Technology. The Landsat Thematic Mapper data used has been radiometrically and geometrically corrected and a final ground resolution of 25×25m was obtained. Although the land useAand cover of the area is complex, the tested accuracy is satisfactory.

The value of ground resolution, spectral range and stereoscopy of satellite imagery for land system and land-use mapping of the humid tropics

TL;DR: In this paper, a comparison of SPOT and Landsat-TM imagery of Belize was made, and the results showed that the SPOT panchromatic mode was more reliable than LandsatTM at the 99 per cent probability level, but not significantly better than SPOT multi-spectral mode.

Remote Sensing Image Classification By A Gis Guided Spatial Analysis

TL;DR: This paper introduces an approach in which spatial information commonly stored in geographic information systems (GIS) is incorporated to assist the remote sensing image classification and shows that it is advantageous to use the spatial information in remote sensing analysis.

A land use and land cover classification system for use with remote sensor data

TL;DR: The framework of a national land use and land cover classification system is presented for use with remote sensor data and uses the features of existing widely used classification systems that are amenable to data derived from re-mote sensing sources.

Spectral response of a plant canopy with different soil backgrounds

TL;DR: In this paper, the spectral behavior of a cotton canopy with four soil types alternately inserted underneath was examined at various levels of vegetation density, showing that soil and plant spectra interactively mix in a nonadditive, partly correlated manner to produce composite canopy spectra.

Effect of mixed (boundary) pixels on crop proportion estimation

TL;DR: In this paper, the spectral response of a boundary pixel is modeled and an analytical expression for the bias and variance of a proportion estimate is obtained, followed by a numerical illustration of the effect of mixed pixels on bias and variances.

Mapping land cover from satellite images: A basic, low cost approach

TL;DR: In this article, simple, inexpensive methodologies developed for mapping general land cover and land use categories from LANDSAT images are reported One methodology, a stepwise, interpretive, direct tracing technique was developed through working with university students from different disciplines.
