Abstract
To provide a map generation device according to the present invention which extracts a polygon shape of a building having a complex upper portion structure from a wide area image. The map generation device includes an image appointment unit that receives appointment of at least one position in a building existing within an aerial photograph, a polygon extraction unit that extracts a building region based on a result of discriminating a color around the appointed position and extracts a polygon line of the building region, and a vector generation unit that generates a vector of the polygon line of the building region.

Method and system for configuring solar energy systems

TL;DR: In this article, a system and method of configuring solar energy systems that includes at least one processor, and a memory coupled to the processor is presented. But the memory can store instructions to cause the processor to search one or more data sources for information, store the information in a data store, display the images in real-time on a user interface on a display, and process the information, images, and input data to determine parameters associated with the location, and identify a useable area in the location for placement of the solar energy system.

System and method for construction estimation using aerial images

TL;DR: In this paper, a system and method for construction estimation using aerial images is presented, which allows users to generate two-dimensional and three-dimensional models of the roof by automatically delineating various roof features, and generates a report including information about the roof of the building.

Systems and methods for estimation of building floor area

TL;DR: In this article, the estimated floor area measurement of a building based on the calculated estimated total roof area of the roof of the building is estimated. This is based on a correlation between the size of building roof and the building's size.

Modeling and rendering architecture from photographs: a hybrid geometry- and image-based approach

TL;DR: This work presents a new approach for modeling and rendering existing architectural scenes from a sparse set of still photographs, which combines both geometry-based and imagebased techniques, and presents view-dependent texture mapping, a method of compositing multiple views of a scene that better simulates geometric detail on basic models.

Image-based modeling and photo editing

TL;DR: An image-based modeling and editing system that takes a single photo as input and employs a suite of user-assisted techniques, based on a painting metaphor, to assign depths and extract layers, enabling editing from different viewpoints and modifying the shape, color, and illumination of these objects.

Detection and modeling of buildings from multiple aerial images

TL;DR: This work describes a system that detects and constructs 3D models for rectilinear buildings with either flat or symmetric gable roofs from multiple aerial images; the multiple images need not be stereo pairs (i.e., they may be acquired at different times).
