TLDR
In this paper, a system for admission control in a wireless local area network adapted to serve a set of stations and manage real-time transmission as well as and TCP/IP sessions is presented.Abstract:
A system for admission control in a wireless local area network adapted to serve a set of stations and manage real time transmission as well as and TCP/IP sessions includes an access point (AP) configured for: when either a new station joins the network or a new TCP/IP session is being initiated, checking if sufficient bandwidth is available in the network for the new traffic flow associated with the new station or TCP/IP session without interfering with any ongoing real time transmission in the network, and in case no sufficient bandwidth is found to be available, whereby said new traffic flow could interfere with said ongoing real time transmission, blocking such new traffic flow.read more

Method and system for power control based on application awareness in a packet network switch
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a power control based on application awareness in a packet network switch, where data communication flow is monitored in ports in a PN switch based on packet classification and power saving mode may be utilized for disabling at least some functionality in a switch port.

TL;DR: In this article, a system and method for handling a digital electronic flow between a first and second entity in which a flow policy is determined that is to be applied to the flow and the flow is then directed along a path in accordance with the policy.

Management policies for dense wireless access point infrastructures in wireless local area networks
TL;DR: In this article, client-to-AP mapping is used to prevent discovery of multiple APs in a WLAN by a client device and to select a single AP (using certain policies) to associate with the client devices and provide it with an enhanced wireless connection to the WLAN.

Conditional utilization of private short-range wireless networks for service provision and mobility
TL;DR: In this paper, a system for managing the integration of a private short-range wireless network into a service/mobility domain is presented, which allows a home user to define how visitors will be granted access to the semi-private short range network when the user is at home or away.

Integrating public and private network resources for optimized broadband wireless access and method
TL;DR: In this paper, a system and method for ubiquitous public network access to wireless, mobile terminals using private networks having private network access points and connections with the public network is described, where a network access server (NAS) is associated with each wireless, radio frequency communication device and provides an interface between the wireless and mobile terminals and the private network.

Method for admitting new connections based on usage priorities in a multiple access system for communications networks
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method for admitting new connections based on measured quantities in a wireless communications network having a base station and remote hosts, the base station measures and computes performance metrics to determine whether admission of the new connection could cause a failure to meet the Quality of Service (QoS) promised to already admitted connections.

Dynamic bandwidth allocation to transmit a wireless protocol across a code division multiple access (cdma) radio link
TL;DR: In this article, a dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm operates from limits calculated based upon available ports per subscriber, expected user bandwidth, and parallel user bandwidth versus throughput, and provision for priority service, unbalanced forward and reverse spectrum utilization, voice prioritization, and band switching.

Adaptive call admission control for use in a wireless communication system
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method for adaptive call admission control (CAC) in communication systems and to select connections for suspension, which can determine what CPE to base station calls (connections) are allowed at any given time.

Method and apparatus for transmitting data in a time division duplexed (tdd) communication system
TL;DR: In this paper, the frequency response of a forward link is estimated at a base station based on reverse link transmissions (e.g., pilots) from a terminal, and preconditions modulation symbols based on weights derived from the forward transfer function.
