In this article, a reconstruction filter is used to recover the original input signals from decorrelated source signals, such that the cross-correlation between the reconstructed source signals is near zero, and the transfer functions which represent the crosstalk processes are estimated.Abstract:
A system separates unknown signals which have been combined together through unknown linear filters and for which observations at multiple sensors are made. In a two channel circuit with two inputs and two sensors, the reconstructed source signals are assumed to be decorrelated such that the cross-correlation between the reconstructed source signals is near zero. The transfer functions which represent the crosstalk processes are estimated. The output signals are detected and the transfer functions are recursively solved. A reconstruction filter is used to recover the original input signals.read more

Noise-reducing directional microphone array
TL;DR: In this paper, a directional microphone array having at least two microphones generates forward and backward cardioid signals from two (e.g., omnidirectional) microphone signals, and an adaptation factor is applied to the backward signal, and the resulting adjusted backward signal is subtracted from the forward cardioid signal to generate a (firstorder) output audio signal corresponding to a beampattern having no nulls for negative values of the adaptation factor.

TL;DR: It is shown that in treating periodic interference the adaptive noise canceller acts as a notch filter with narrow bandwidth, infinite null, and the capability of tracking the exact frequency of the interference; in this case the canceller behaves as a linear, time-invariant system, with the adaptive filter converging on a dynamic rather than a static solution.

Broadcast program identification method and apparatus
TL;DR: In this article, a method and apparatus for identifying repetitively broadcast programs, such as commercial advertisements broadcast on television and radio, detects the occurrence of predetermined events in a video signal and/or in an audio signal, detects a stability condition and extracts a signature from the video and audio signal.

Active acoustic attenuator
TL;DR: In this paper, an active attenuator is provided for the attenuation of a relatively broad band of lower frequency vibration such as sound waves from a given source, by the introduction of cancelling vibration having the mirror image amplitude and phase characteritics of the source vibration.

Method and apparatus for automatically detecting and playing desired audio segments over a broadcast receiver
TL;DR: In this paper, a method and apparatus for detecting and playing desired audio segments over a broadcast receiver such as a radio or television is described, coupled with the broadcast receiver (30) to enable the listener to listen to any of a plurality of different stations and to select audio segments being played on any of the stations.

Adaptive cross-polarization interference cancellation arrangements
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed an adaptive cross-polarization cancellation arrangement where a first desired polarized signal and a second interfering orthogonally polarized signal, including cross polarization components, are concurrently received at an antenna, and a feedback path includes circuitry for obtaining a sample of any remaining interfering signal in the recombined output signal, and then generating appropriate control signals in response to such representative power envelope signal to provide improved adjustment of the separated polarized interfering signal sample.
