TLDR
In this paper, it was shown that the two peaks in typical melting endotherms represent different components of the morphology, formed in two stages of crystallization, and that the correlation of melting point and location within the spherulite architecture is an inherent function of that location.

Thermal Degradation Chemistry of Alkyl Quaternary Ammonium Montmorillonite

TL;DR: The thermal stability of organically modified layered silicate (OLS) plays a key role in the synthesis and processing of polymer-layered silicate nanocomposites as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

The measurement of the crystallinity of polymers by DSC

TL;DR: In this article, a First Law procedure is suggested which involves heating the sample between two set temperatures, T1 and T2, by the requirement that the degree of crystallinity of the sample should not change either with temperature or time.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thermal analysis of the double-melting behavior of poly(L-lactic acid)

TL;DR: In this paper, the melting and crystallization behavior of poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA; weight-average molecular weight = 3 × 105) was studied with differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).
Journal ArticleDOI

Secondary structure and elevated temperature crystallite morphology of nylon-6/layered silicate nanocomposites

TL;DR: In this paper, the secondary structure arising from association of layered silicates is quantified and its impact, along with constituent interactions, on elevated temperature crystallite morphology in nylon-6/montmorillonite nanocomposites is examined.
Journal ArticleDOI

Melting behavior of poly(butylene succinate) during heating scan by DSC

TL;DR: In this paper, the melting behavior of isothermally crystallized poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) has been investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and wide-angle X-ray analysis.

The morphology of poly(aryl-ether-ether-ketone)

TL;DR: The morphology and related properties for the aromatic thermoplastic poly(aryl-ether-etherketone) (PEEK) [C6H4O C6H 4 O OC 6H4-CO]n were described in this article, including crystallinity, crystallization and melting behaviour, Iamellar thickness and spherulitic structure.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Phenomenological Theory of Spherulitic Crystallization

TL;DR: In this article, the origins of fibrous crystal habits in the absence of appreciable temperature gradients and profuse non-crystallographic branching are explained, and it is shown that a plane crystal face cannot grow without suffering an instability of profile.
Journal ArticleDOI

Crystallization behaviour of poly(ether-ether-ketone)

TL;DR: In this article, a study has been made of the crystallization behavior of poly(ether-ether-ketone), PEEK, under isothermal and non-isothermal conditions.
