TLDR
In this paper, low-rank coals from two disparate geological settings have been subjected to petrographic and palynological analysis and their locations are the Amphitheatre Formation, St Elias Mountains, Yukon Territory, and the base of the Ravenscrag Formation, south-central Saskatchewan, of latest Cretaceous to earliest Paleocene age.

The Pre-Quaternary history of fire

TL;DR: Charcoal has been widely reported from Tertiary sediments and its appearance in the Quaternary and Recent is not solely as a result of human impact, but this interpretation is questionable as discussed by the authors.

Sequential palynological changes across the composite Cretaceous-Tertiary (K-T) boundary claystone and contiguous strata, western Canada and Montana, U.S.A.

TL;DR: The boundary claystone in the western Canada Basin is composed of three intimately associated layers with a regional distribution: a basal brownish-grey hackly claystone, a middle brownish black sa...

Fossil pollen records of extant angiosperms.

TL;DR: The fossil record for angiosperm pollen types which are comparable to recent taxa is evaluated, following a similar survey published in 1970, with special attention paid to the dating of the sediments.

The genesis of coal from the viewpoint of coal petrology

TL;DR: In this paper, the genesis of macerals in brown coals is discussed in the light of recent advances that have been made in the study of coals and modern peats.
