Residential parking costs and car ownership : Implications for parking policy and automated vehicles
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed an approach to estimate implicit residential parking costs and then examined the effect of these costs on household car ownership in four largest metropolitan areas of the Netherlands and found that the disparity in parking costs explains around 30% of the difference in average car ownership rates between these areas and corresponds to a price elasticity of car demand.
