TLDR
PHLIQA1 is an experimental system for answering isolated English questions about a restricted subjectdomain under the MDS time sharing system on a Philips P1400 computer.
Abstract
PHLIQA1 is an experimental system for answering isolated English questions about a restricted subjectdomain. It was developed at Philips Research Laboratories in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, by a team consisting of W. J. Bronnenberg, H. C. Bunt, S. P. J. Landsbergen, P. Medema, R. J. H. Scha, W. J. Schoenmakers and E. P. C. van Utteren. The system was designed during the period 1972-1975, and implemented in 1975. It runs under the MDS time sharing system on a Philips P1400 computer. Some details of the 1975 version have been improved in the currently running system.

Natural Language Interfaces to Databases - An Introduction

TL;DR: Natural language interfaces to databases (NLIDBs) as discussed by the authors have been studied extensively in the field of natural language processing and have attracted much attention in the last few decades, especially for query languages, form-based interfaces and graphical interfaces.

Natural language interfaces to databases-An introduction

TL;DR: This paper is an introduction to natural language interfaces to databases (NLIDBS) and some less explored areas of NLIDB research are presented, namely database updates, meta-knowledge questions, temporal questions, and multi-modal NLIDBS.

Deriving Database Queries from Logical Forms by Abductive Definition Expansion

TL;DR: A principled approach to the problem of deriving database queries from logical forms produced by a general NL interface that attempts to construct a database query and a set of plausible assumptions, such that the logical form is equivalent to the query given the assumptions.

Monotonic semantic interpretation

TL;DR: The paper describes how monotonic reference resolution and scoping can be carried out using a revised Quasi Logical Form (QLF) representation and semantics for QLF are presented.
