TLDR
In this article, it is estimated that indigenous coal resources can potentially supply 3-6 million TCE/yr of SNG by 2000, which is about 10-20% of the substitutable fossil fuels demand for that year.

Estimating direct and indirect rebound effects for U.S. households with input–output analysis Part 1: Theoretical framework

TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide an analytical model of the indirect rebound effect, given a direct rebound estimate, that integrates consumer demand theory with the embodied energy of household spending from environmentally-extended input-output analysis.

Kinetics of gasification of coal, biomass and their blends in air (N2/O2) and different oxy-fuel (O2/CO2) atmospheres

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated bituminous coal and palm shells using thermo-gravimetric analysis under different environments (N 2 /CO 2 /O 2 ) and found that the observed percent mass loss of biomass was higher than mass loss percentage of coal because biomass had higher reactivity and volatile matter content.

Simulation of cavity formation in underground coal gasification using bore hole combustion experiments

TL;DR: In this paper, the growth of three-dimensional cavity geometries in underground coal gasification has been simulated using experiments carried out in three configurations: (i) sublimation experiments in camphor simulating primarily the heat transfer aspects, (ii) bore hole combustion in Acacia nilotica wood bringing in chemical reaction into play, and (iii) borehole combustion a coal block bringing into consideration the effect of ash on the cavity formation.
Journal ArticleDOI

An overview on energy and development of energy integration in major south asian countries: The building sector

TL;DR: In this article, a broad overview on energy and development of energy integration in major South Asian countries is presented, with a broad deepening on the main sector of energy consumption, i.e., the building sector.

Palynological investigation of coal-bearing deposits of the Thar Coal Field Sindh, Pakistan

Pardeep Kumar
TL;DR: Sahni et al. as discussed by the authors performed a palynological and sedimentological study of samples from the Thar Coal Field (Lower Indus Basin), south eastern border of Sindh, Pakistan was performed.

Coal Utilisation: Technology, Economics and Policy

L. Grainger, +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an introductory background to coal and its utilization, the six main branches of coal utilization technology (carbonization, gasification, liqufaction, chemical products, and in situ gasification), and political decisions about the role of coal, including an explanation of existing policy situations worldwide.
