Abstract
A 38-year-old woman with a 6-month history of breathlessness and intermittent central chest pain was referred for an ECG-gated cardiac CT examination. This excluded significant coronary artery disease, but revealed an unexpected extracardiac finding. The left pulmonary artery had an anomalous origin from the right main pulmonary artery and was seen to hook around and compress the right main bronchus before crossing to the left of the midline between the trachea and oesophagus to form a ring (fig 1). In addition, CT showed the proximal oesophagus to be mildly dilated (fig 2). The patient did not report any dysphagia on further questioning. Volume-rendered …

Left pulmonary artery sling--anatomy and imaging.

TL;DR: Distinctive imaging findings are present when the left pulmonary artery arises from the right pulmonary artery and forms a sling around the airway passing between airway and esophagus to reach the left lung.

Pertinent reportable incidental cardiac findings on chest CT without electrocardiography gating: Review of 268 consecutive cases

TL;DR: The high volume of chest CT examinations without ECG gating represents an opportunity for radiologists to comment on the presence or absence of cardiac disease which may influence future clinical decisions.

MDCT angiographic findings of various congenital pulmonary artery anomalies in pediatric patients

TL;DR: Higher quality multiplanar and 3D reconstruction achieved by the MDCT scanners offer a rapid, reliable and non-invasive technique that can be used for the evaluation and preoperative assessment of thoracic vascular and extra-vascular anatomy in infants and children with suspected congenital heart disease.

An Adult Case of Pulmonary Artery Sling Accompanied by Tracheobronchomalacia

TL;DR: An adult case of PA sling accompanied by tracheobronchomalacia found in a 49-year-old woman with a history of recurrent pneumonia is presented and the importance of focusing on the anatomic abnormalities in such cases is stressed.

Rings, slings, and other things: vascular compression of the infant trachea updated from the midcentury to the millennium--the legacy of Robert E. Gross, MD, and Edward B. D. Neuhauser, MD.

TL;DR: In the first half of the 20th century, pediatric chest imaging was limited mainly to the performance of conventional radiography, including barium esophagography and occasionally bronchography and angiography, but by 1950 the diagnosis and treatment of vascular "rings" compressing infant airways had been accomplished with the pioneering efforts of Drs Gross and Neuhauser.
