Metal Transfer during GMAW with Thin Electrodes and Ar-CO2Shielding Gas Mixtures
E. J. Soderstrom,P. F. Mendez +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the metal transfer modes in gas metal arc welding using direct current electrode positive (DCEP) in a variety of binary Ar-CO 2 shielding gas mixtures and electrodes with diameters as small as 0.016 in. (0.41 mm) were investigated.
New Approaches to Controlling Unstable Gas Metal Arc Welding
TL;DR: The problems involved in maintaining arc stability with CO2 shielded arcs are reviewed and potential solutions based on the development of a new process control technique are proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Control of melting and electrode metal transfer in CO2 welding
Barry E. Paton,A V Lebedev +1 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Study of molten metal droplet adhesion to organic anti-spatter coatings
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the protection mechanism of four typical anti-spatter products based on polymer coating and found that during the short contact of the molten metal droplet with the coating, part of the coating evaporates in the form of carbon monoxide, hydrogen, water and other volatile degradation products.
Novel Control Techniques for CO2 Shielded Gas Metal Arc Welding
TL;DR: The control strategies that have been developed over the past four decades to control the inherently unstable metal transfer in the CO2-shielded GMAW process are described in this article.
