Punching shear strength of reinforced concrete column footings under eccentric compression: Experiment and analysis

TLDR
In this paper, the authors conducted eccentric compression tests on three reinforced concrete column footings considering the complex interaction between the soil and structure, and investigated the load-carrying capacity, displacement distribution, reaction distribution, failure mode, crack development, and strain distribution.

Eccentric punching tests on column bases – New insights into the inner concrete strain development

TL;DR: In this paper , the effect of load eccentricity on column base column shear strength was analyzed using a series of test data for eccentric column bases with four centrically loaded and fourteen eccentrically loaded column bases to analyze the effects of systematically graded load eccentricities.
Journal ArticleDOI

Eccentric punching tests on column bases ‐ Influence of column geometry

TL;DR: In this article , the authors evaluate the effect of load eccentricities on column bases and propose different factors to either increase the acting shear force or decrease the punching shear resistance in design.

Experimental Investigation of RC Footings Resting on Sand Strengthened with Concrete Jacketing

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of using dowels, in connecting old and new concrete, on stress distribution under strengthened footings and load-carrying is presented, and the experimental results showed that the stress distribution beneath the center of footings subjected to concentric loading was higher than that beneath the control specimen by approximately 10%.

Experimental Investigations on Punching Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Footings

TL;DR: In this paper, a study of 5 reinforced concrete footings that were tested to investigate the punching shear failure of footings is presented. But unlike most of the research in this area, in which footings are supported on springs or on a column slab, this study used concrete column footings realistically supported on sand.
Journal ArticleDOI

Punching Strength of Reinforced Concrete Footings

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the punching shear behavior of reinforced concrete footings and found that the angle of failure shear crack is steeper in punching tests on compact footings than observed in tests on more slender slabs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental investigations on the punching behaviour of reinforced concrete footings with structural dimensions

TL;DR: Punching tests on 13 specimens under uniform soil pressure were conducted to evaluate the punching shear behavior of footings with practical dimensions as discussed by the authors. But the results of these tests were limited to a single sample.

Investigations on the punching behaviour of reinforced concrete footings

TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed a design model for the punching strength of reinforced concrete footings taking into account the soil-structure-interaction and the experimental results indicate that the angle of the shear failure plane is steeper than observed in punching tests on flat slabs and the shears slenderness seems to affect the punching shear capacity significantly, and an advanced design model is derived, which is based on the BS 8110-1:1997 provisions.
