Reverberant Microwave Propagation in Coupled Complex Cavities

TLDR
In this article, a simple model for the analysis of microwave propagation in coupled complex cavities is presented, based on conservation of average energy in the steady state among multiple cavities, and the general model formulation is valid for both strong and weak couplings between the cavities caused by window materials, open apertures, closed and open hatches, and cable/pipe penetrations through bulkheads.
Abstract
A simple model for the analysis of microwave propagation in coupled complex cavities is presented. The cumulative build-up and full exchange of electromagnetic energy between coupled spaces are important issues for wireless systems in reverberant environments, such as below-deck compartments in ships and aircraft cabins and bays. Based on conservation of average energy in the steady state among multiple cavities, the general model formulation is valid for both strong and weak couplings between the cavities caused by window materials, open apertures, closed and open hatches, and cable/pipe penetrations through bulkheads. Application of the model is demonstrated in conjunction with measurements conducted in nested reverberation chambers in the laboratory and in the coupled main weapons bays of a fighter aircraft.

Numerical Analysis of a New Location for the Working Volume Inside a Reverberation Chamber

TL;DR: This paper analyzes the performance of a reverberation chamber when the working volume (WV) is positioned inside the stirrer rotating volume and proposes a new WV position and stirrer shape that needs just one motor to control the Stirrer and does not require more complex mechanical part.

Numerical Simulation of Reverberation Chamber Parameters Affecting the Received Power Statistics

TL;DR: In this article, a reverberation chamber numerical modeling based on a discrete plane wave representation is presented, where the attention is focused on those parameters that may influence the field statistics, and a correspondence between numerical and experimental parameters affecting the occurrence of the rejected frequencies is shown.

On Measuring Shielding Effectiveness of Sparsely Moded Enclosures in a Reverberation Chamber

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors demonstrate the performance advantages of a traveling-wire antenna (long-wire probe) as a means of fully sampling the field throughout the volume of the enclosure without the need for multiple, wall-mounted probes.

Application of the Random Coupling Model to Electromagnetic Statistics in Complex Enclosures

TL;DR: In this article, the effectiveness of the random coupling model (RCM) in predicting electromagnetic wave coupling to targeted electronic components within a complex enclosure is examined, and the applicability of a statistical technique, the RCM, to estimate the probabilistic magnitudes of RF fields on electrically large components (i.e., long cables, etc.) that are partially shielded within a 3D enclosure.

Impedance and power fluctuations in linear chains of coupled wave chaotic cavities.

TL;DR: The distribution of power in the last cavity of a very long chain of coupled cavities approaches lognormal, and signatures of Anderson localization, similar to those of the conductances of quantum wires, are observed.

Acoustics: An Introduction to Its Physical Principles and Applications

TL;DR: Pierces as mentioned in this paper is a classic text on acoustics with a rich history and development of the field of sound and acoustical engineering. But he organizes it superbly and writes intelligently with a wonderful way of integrating the history and evolution of the science and the graphics are exceptionally clear and communicative.
