TLDR
In this paper, a study was initiated to gain a better understanding of the potential explosion hazard consequences associated with high-pressure leaks from hydrogen vehicle refuelling systems, where experiments with a dummy vehicle and dispenser units were conducted to simulate the conditions leading to the greatest overpressures and overall conclusions were made from these experiments.

Leakage-type-based analysis of accidents involving hydrogen fueling stations in Japan and USA

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors identify the safety issues associated with hydrogen fueling stations, incidents at such stations in Japan and the USA were analyzed considering the regulations in these countries, and safety measures should be developed to prevent human error by fuel cell vehicle users.

Experimental study on hydrogen explosions in a full-scale hydrogen filling station model

TL;DR: In this paper, high-pressure hydrogen releases from 0.8-8.0mm nozzle at the dispenser position and inside the storage room in the full-scale model of the refueling station were initiated to study the accumulation of hydrogen.
Journal ArticleDOI

A numerical study of hydrogen leakage and diffusion in a hydrogen refueling station

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the behavior of hydrogen leakage and diffusion in six scenarios including comparison of different leakage position and different wind effect, and showed that a more narrow space between the leakage hole and the obstacle and a smaller contact area with the obstacle make the profile of the flammable gas cloud more irregular and unpredictable.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydrogen safety engineering framework and elementary design safety tools

TL;DR: A design framework and overviews a structure and contents of elementary design safety tool for carrying out H2SE is described and this performance-based methodology offers the flexibility to assess trial safety designs using separately or simultaneously three approaches: deterministic, comparative or probabilistic.
Journal ArticleDOI

The feasibility of distributed hydrogen production from renewable energy sources and the financial contribution from UK motorists on environmental grounds

TL;DR: In this article, the authors calculate the hydrogen production cost using varying capacity hybrid wind/solar PV systems and associated hydrogen generation, storage and dispensing technologies in supplying a scenario population exposed to average UK weather conditions.

Experimental Study on Hydrogen Explosions in a full-scale hydrogen filling station model

TL;DR: In this paper, high-pressure hydrogen releases were initiated in a storage room to study the accumulation of hydrogen, and the hydrogen release was ignited to investigate the overpressures that can be generated by such releases.
