TLDR
In this article , the secrecy performance of a two-hop mixed radio frequency (RF)/underwater wireless optical communication (UWOC) system using a decode-and-forward (DF) relay is analyzed.
Abstract
The secrecy performance is analyzed for a two-hop mixed radio frequency (RF)/underwater wireless optical communication (UWOC) system using a decode-and-forward (DF) relay. All RF and UWOC links are modeled by the <inline-formula xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">$\alpha -\mu $ </tex-math></inline-formula> and exponential-generalized Gamma distributions, respectively. We first derive the expressions of a lower bound of secrecy outage probability in closed-form, and these expressions are used to derive asymptotic expressions in simple functions at high signal-to-noise ratio. Moreover, based on the asymptotic expressions, we can numerically determine a suboptimal transmit power for a wide variety of RF and UWOC channel conditions. All analyses are validated using Monte Carlo simulation.

The $\alpha$ - $\mu$ Distribution: A Physical Fading Model for the Stacy Distribution

TL;DR: A fading model is introduced, which explores the nonlinearity of the propagation medium and derives the corresponding fading distribution-the alpha-mu distribution-which is in fact a rewritten form of the Stacy (generalized Gamma) distribution.
