Comparative performance analysis of priority rules in a constrained flow shop with multiple processors environment

TL;DR: A dynamic simulation model of the constrained flow shop with multiple processors environment was developed in which the queuing priorities at each machine stage were established dynamically, and the results indicated that the shortest processing time first dispatching procedure (SPT) yielded superior performance for the makespan and mean flow time criteria.

Component based simulation modeling with Simkit

TL;DR: This paper demonstrates how to use Simkit to create discrete event simulation models using a component framework based on a listener design pattern especially useful for simulation models.
Journal ArticleDOI

To batch or not to batch

TL;DR: It is concluded---like other classic references---that in the context of estimation of the steady-state mean, batching is typically the wiser approach.

Building sustainable fisheries in florida's coral reef ecosystem: positive signs in the dry tortugas

TL;DR: Although the recovery process is still in an early stage, the results after 3 yrs are encouraging and suggest that no-take marine reserves, in conjunction with traditional management, can help build sustainable fisheries while protecting the Florida Keys coral-reef ecosystem.

Evaluating the effect of construction process characteristics to the applicability of lean principles

TL;DR: In this paper, the applicability of lean principles to simple construction processes using discrete-event simulation is evaluated. But, the authors focus on simple processes, such as plastering and block-laying.
