Journal ArticleDOI
Cavitation erosion size scale effects
TL;DR: In this paper, the size scale exponent n in the erosion rate relationship as a function of the size or diameter can vary from 1.7 to 4.9 depending on the type of device used.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preliminary experience with a new compact disk apparatus for cavitation erosion studies
G. Bazanini,J.D. Bressan +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a new concept of the horizontal rotating disk device is presented and discussed, as well as some preliminary results obtained from its operation, with the aim to observe its performance in generating bubbles and to cause erosion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of cavitation damage characteristics using a profilometer
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the extent to which surface profilometry techniques can be used to determine cavitation damage characteristics by obtaining the surface profiles of test specimens before and after cavitation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pressure and Source Size Effects on Cavitation Damage
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used two dimensional triangular prismatic shapes as cavitating sources to reduce the significance of Reynolds number in interpreting the test results and found that the velocity exponent at maximum cavitation damage conditions is 5.95 and that maximum damage occurs in a narrow band of cavitation numbers.
