TLDR
In this article, the propagation of an ionizing front to a neutral gas containing a magnetic field is considered and a solution is found for the case of a plane wave moving into an infinite gas at constant velocity, the initial magnetic field being uniform and perpendicular to the direction of the subsequent motion.

Shock propagation in transverse magnetic fields

TL;DR: In this paper, the propagation of an electromagnetically driven shock wave is discussed for the particular case of propagation perpendicular to an external magnetic field applied parallel to the driver field, and the main result of these calculations shows that the plasma achieves a greater flow velocity at the cost of a reduction in the plasma enthalpy.
