A very-high-resolution image digitizing system that handles both still and motion images is presented. The system mainly consists of a high-resolution CCD line scanner and high-precision film transport equipment. Resolution characteristics are measured directly using test charts, and resolution of over 2048 pixels is obtained in both the vertical and horizontal direction. Therefore, this system can generate test sequences for super-high-definition images that have at least 2048*2048 pixels. Various corrections, such as shading-, gamma-, and color-correction and edge enhancement, are made, and good reproductions of original photo images are obtained. Sixteen standard images are digitized and prepared for coding simulations and other applications. >read more

Image processing method and apparatus and recording medium
TL;DR: In this article, an image processing method comprises the steps of retaining on file a profile for an input device and a profile of an output target film, employing the profiles for the input devices and for the output targets to prepare a color reproduction table to facilitate the input of image data that is near that of the output target films, and correcting the colors of the input image data in accordance with the table that is prepared.

Dynamic exposure control in single-scan digital input devices
TL;DR: In this paper, a histogram of the occurrence of each tone level is accumulated during the scan and the tone value of the paper is estimated by analyzing the histogram, when this value is known, the parameters for a tone reproduction curve (TRC) can be calculated.
