In this paper, the authors compare analytic hierarchy process and total cost of ownership (COPO) for supplier selection and evaluation, and provide a comparison of the two approaches and their performance.Abstract:
Supplier selection and evaluation are arguably one of the most critical functions for the success of an organization. Several approaches exist in the literature to objectively evaluate suppliers, including analytic hierarchy process and total cost of ownership. Analytic hierarchy process provides a framework to cope with multiple criteria situations involving supplier selection, while the total cost of ownership is a methodology and philosophy, which look beyond just the price of a purchase to better understand and manage costs in selecting and maintaining relationships with suppliers. This paper illustrates the two approaches and provides a comparison.read more

Multi criteria decision making approaches for green supplier evaluation and selection: a literature review
TL;DR: A large and growing body of literature on green supplier evaluation that considers environmental factors is relatively limited as discussed by the authors, and the most common criterion considered for green supplier selection was "environmental management systems".
Supply Chain Management: A Structured Literature Review and Implications for Future Research
TL;DR: The field of supply chain management (SCM) has historically been informed by knowledge from narrow functional areas as discussed by the authors, and while some effort towards producing a broader organizational perspective has been made, nonetheless, SCM continues to be largely eclectic with little consensus on its conceptualization and research methodological bases.

A review of applications of Analytic Hierarchy Process in operations management
TL;DR: A comprehensive listing of AHP applications in operations management is presented and a framework for identifying the decision areas that have better research gaps to be studied by future researchers is developed.

The Analytic Hierarchy Process
Thomas L. Saaty,Kevin P. Kearns +1 more
TL;DR: Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) as mentioned in this paper is a systematic procedure for representing the elements of any problem hierarchically, which organizes the basic rationality by breaking down a problem into its smaller constituent parts and then guides decision makers through a series of pairwise comparison judgments to express the relative strength or intensity of impact of the elements in the hierarchy.

Remarks on the analytic hierarchy process
TL;DR: The analytic hierarchy process AHP is flawed as a procedure for ranking alternatives in that the rankings produced by this procedure are arbitrary as discussed by the authors, and the key to correcting this flaw is the synthesis of the AHP with the concepts of multiattribute utility theory.

Using the Analytic Hierarchy Process to Structure the Supplier Selection Procedure
TL;DR: The analytical hierarchy process (AHP) is a decision-making method for ranking alternative courses of action when multiple criteria must be considered as mentioned in this paper, such as quality, price, delivery, and service.
