Shock-wave shapes around spherical-and cylindrical-nosed bodies.
TL;DR: In this article, the stagnation point is defined in non-dimensional distance terms SjRN where S is the radial distance from the centerline of the heat shield and R is the radius of the shield.
Journal ArticleDOI
Secondary injection of gases into a supersonic flow
Edward E. Zukoski,Frank W. Spaid +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the flow field around the injection port for secondary injection of a gas normal to a supersonic stream has been studied in a series of wind-tunnel experiments.
Journal ArticleDOI
Large-Eddy Simulation of Jet Mixing in Supersonic Crossflows
TL;DR: In this article, a large-eddy simulation of an underexpanded sonic jet injection into supersonic crossflows is performed to obtain insights into key physics of the jet mixing.

Mixing of a Sonic Transverse Jet Injected into a Supersonic Flow
TL;DR: In this article, the mixing characteristics of an underexpanded sonic jet injected into a Mach 1.6 Crosse Flow are studied experimentally using shadowgraph photography and planar laser-induced e uorescence from acetone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Visual observations of supersonic transverse jets
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present experimental results on penetration of round sonic and supersonic jets normal to a subsonic cross flow, and find that penetration is strongly dependent on momentum ratio, weakly dependent on free-stream Mach number, and practically independent of jet Mach number.
