Effect of povidone-iodine and saline soaking on bacterial counts in acute, traumatic, contaminated wounds

TL;DR: Wounds with counts of less than 10(5) bacteria/g tissue are unlikely to become infected, and wounds soaked in 1% povidone-iodine solution or in normal saline with wounds receiving no treatment are compared.

Use of sterile gloves in the management of sutured hand wounds in the A&E department

TL;DR: In a single-blind, controlled, prospective trial of 242 sutured wounds of the hand in the A&E department there was increased late purulent infection in those treated without gloves, and wearing of sterile gloves to suture all wounds in A&Es is recommended.
