Journal ArticleDOI

On the oxidation behaviour of MoSi2

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the oxidation behavior of MoSi 2 on the basis of thermodynamics and kinetics and showed that at low temperatures, the limited bulk diffusion in MoSi2 makes it impossible to sustain a sufficient supply of silicon for the formation of a continuous silica layer.
Journal ArticleDOI

Liquidus projection for the Mo-rich portion of the Mo–Si–B ternary system

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the solidification behavior in the Mo-Si-B ternary system based on the microstructures of arc-cast alloys and identified several solidification characteristics using XRD, SEM and TEM.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thermodynamic assessment of the Nb-Ti system

TL;DR: In this paper, a set of thermodynamic parameters more consistent with most of the selected experimental data than previous assessments has been obtained, including stable and metastable phase equilibria, T0 loci, metastable chemical spinodal curve of β phase and thermodynamic properties.
Journal ArticleDOI

Production of Oxygen Gas and Liquid Metal by Electrochemical Decomposition of Molten Iron Oxide

TL;DR: In this article, the authors report the results of a program of materials design, selection, and testing of candidate anode materials and demonstrate the utility of iridium in this application.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oxidation behavior of ZrB2 composites doped with various transition metal silicides

TL;DR: In this article, the authors dealt with the oxidation behavior of ZrB2-based composites sintered with different additives, namely ZrSi2, MoSi2 and TaSi2.

Thermochemical properties of inorganic substances

Ihsan Barin, +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a volume of tables conveying the thermochemical parameters of more than 2000 substances, cover enthalpy, entropy, chemical potential and Planck's function, and commentaries on the chemical reactions of the relevant component and indications of stability/metastability.
Journal ArticleDOI

Das Dreistoffsystem: Molybdän—Silizium—Kohlenstoff

TL;DR: Neubearbeitung des Randsystems Mo−Si−C as discussed by the authors is in einer neuen ternaren Phase, e.g., Kristallstruktur und Eigenschaften.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Vapor‐Phase Deposition of Refractory Materials I. General Conditions and Apparatus

TL;DR: In this paper, conditions and apparatus for applying coatings of the refractory metals, carbides, nitrides, borides, silicides, and oxides by vapor phase deposition are described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cellular structure and silicide formation in laser‐irradiated metal‐silicon systems

TL;DR: In this paper, He backscattered laser irradiation of thin Co, Mo, and Pd films on singlecrystalline silicon using Q-switched Nd-YAG laser pulses was shown to result in deep metal penetration into the Si. Evidence of the silicide formation was obtained by x-ray diffraction.
