TLDR
In this paper, a tow point (43) is selected for an asphalt paver, which allows the operator to select either a fixed or sliding tow point connection, and select from among several possible locations of each; thereby adjusting the distance between the screed and transverse auger of the paver.Abstract:
A tow point (43) for an asphalt paver (15), which allows the operator to: (1) select either a fixed or sliding tow point connection; and (2) select from among several possible locations of each; thereby adjusting the distance between the screed (20) and transverse auger (30) of the paver (15). Combination of these features in a single machine makes it possible to lay down an asphalt mat of uniformly desired thickness, while optimizing use of the aggregate batch particles.read more

Patent
Road finisher and a method of applying surface layers
TL;DR: In this article, a road finisher is used for simultaneously applying at least two surface layers, and each surface layer is applied to the highly-compacted surface layer and then, in turn, highly compacted to such a degree that recompaction is no longer necessary.
Patent
Adjusting arrangement for steerable transport assembly for self-propelled construction vehicle
TL;DR: In this article, an improved arrangement for adjusting crawler-type transport assemblies in a self-propelled construction vehicle between two differing "home" positions is presented, which can be affixed to the driving element selectively in two differing dispositions corresponding to the two “home” positions of the transport assembly.

TL;DR: In this paper, a conveyor assembly with a wheel pivotable about an axis, a swing axis and a bearing surface about the swing axis is presented. But it is not shown how to use a wheel with a swing actuator to pivot the vehicle.
Patent
Paving apparatus with automatic mold positioning control system
TL;DR: In this paper, a slip-form paver follows a path over the ground relative to a string line using grade and steer sensors to detect changes in the vertical and horizontal distance of the mold relative to the string line.
Patent
Frame raising multi-use paving tractor with blind mateable quick connecting tool attachments
Joseph E. Musil,Vince Egan +1 more
TL;DR: A multi-use asphalt paving tractor with frame raise capability and a blind-mateable connector is described in this article. But this tractor is not suitable for road widener and it cannot handle road widening.

Material transfer mechanism
TL;DR: An improved material transfer mechanism comprising a selectively variable speed hydraulic power assembly having an output connected to and powering a material conveyor is presented in this paper. But the work is limited to a single material transfer case.
Patent
Variable width material distribution system for asphalt pavers and the like
TL;DR: In this paper, an asphalt paver with a power extendable auger-like material distribution mechanism is provided, such that the width of the distribution mechanism can be varied with the screed width.

Laser beam control system for road paving machines
TL;DR: In this article, the elevation of the pavement distributor head of a mobile road paving machine in predetermined relationship to a fixed horizontal plane is controlled by a laser beam which is periodically swept across such plane, such apparatus comprising a tape dispensing device carried by the machine to dispense a tape of indefinite length therefrom at zero velocity relative to the surface being paved, and a tape reader for detecting indicia on the tape at predetermined intervals to increase or decrease the predetermined relationship between the pavement dispensing head and the fixed plane.
