Proterozoic sedimentation and Pan-African geodynamic development in the Himalaya

TL;DR: In the early stages of the Purana-Lower Cambrian sedimentary succession of the Indian subcontinent, the poorly sorted basal sediments consisting of wacke-slate alternations of the lower group were emplaced by currents, including turbidity currents, which in the early stage flowed northwards from the Aravalli and Satpura mountains of Peninsular India as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Silurian lithologic associations of the world

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors give spatial patterns of distribution of the principal groups of lithologic associations (sedimentary and volcanogenicl) and a quantitative estimate of their volumes and distribution for each of the three series of the Cambrian system on the present continents.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structural evolution of the Simla klippe in the lower Himalayas

TL;DR: The Jutogh-Chail boundary has been shown to be a klippe in the Simla area in two phases of metamorphism as discussed by the authors, with the earliest structures being isoclinal, recumbent/reclined folds (F1).
Book ChapterDOI

Southern Granulite Terrane of Pan-African Rejuvenation

TL;DR: The Southern Granulite Terrane (SGT) as discussed by the authors is composed of two lithotectonically contrasted domains or subprovinces that have undergone different tectonothermal upheavals.

Sedimentary features of flysch and greywackes

TL;DR: The classic greywacke problem of classification is dealt with first in this text as mentioned in this paper, followed by a detailed account of sedimentary environments and how they manifest themselves in the stones.
Journal ArticleDOI

Turbidites in flysch of the polish carpathian mountains

TL;DR: In this paper, a number of sedimentological problems are examined on the basis of evidence mainly from Poland: upper margins of graded beds, suspended currents, convolute lamination, doubtful turbidites, glauconite in turbidite formations.
Book ChapterDOI

Deep-Sea Sands and Ancient Turbidites

TL;DR: In this article, it is shown that deep-sea sands have been emplaced by turbidity currents except for a few slumped beds near slopes, and the vast scale on which these currents can act is thus established beyond doubt.
Journal ArticleDOI

Convolute Lamination in Non-Graded Sequences

TL;DR: Convolute lamination and other sedimentary structures have been observed repeatedly in sequences characterized also by graded bedding, and practically all have come to be regarded individually as proofs of turbidity-current deposition as mentioned in this paper.
