Histopathological baseline levels and confounding factors in common sole (Solea solea) for marine environmental risk assessment.

TL;DR: The sampling period and gender may not affect the estimation of hepatic histopathological indices for biomonitoring purposes, but due to different sensitivities to environmental 'noise' variables, the samplingperiod and gender differentiation should be thoroughly considered for the assessment of gonad histopathology, biometrics and metal bioaccumulation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Study of heavy metals pollution and physico-chemical assessment of water quality of River Owo, Agbara, Nigeria

TL;DR: In this paper, the physicochemical and biological condition of freshwater bodies which receive varying number of outfalls of industrial and domestic effluents containing heavy metals of River Owo, Agbara Industrial Estate, a boundary town between Lagos and Ogun state, along Badagry Expressway in Nigeria, was assessed for five consecutive months.
Journal ArticleDOI

Baseline assessment of benthic macroinvertebrate community structure and ecological water quality in Rwenzori rivers (Albertine rift valley, Uganda) using biotic-index tools

TL;DR: In this paper, a study was conducted to assess the ecological water quality of Rwenzori rivers using biomonitoring metrics to determine the major factors shaping macroinvertebrate community structure in disturbed and undisturbed sites.
Journal ArticleDOI

Using a Fish-Based Model to Assess the Ecological Status of Lotic Systems in Serbia

TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed a fish-based model for stream quality assessment in Serbia taking into account the regional specificity of the country. But they did not consider the impact of local conditions on the quality of running waters.

Physico-Chemical and Some Trace Metal Analysis of Ogba River, Benin City, Nigeria

TL;DR: In this paper, the physicico-chemical parameters and some trace metal contents of the Ogba River in Benin City, Nigeria were investigated from January to August 2008, using standard methods.
