Israeli snipers in the Al-Aqsa intifada: killing, humanity and lived experience

TL;DR: In this article, an analysis of Israeli military snipers who served during the Al-Aqsa intifada is presented, based on interviews with 30 individuals, who show that snipers do not always need to dehumanise their targets and that they experience killing in conflicting ways, both as pleasurable and as disturbing.

TL;DR: It is found that associated features of post-traumatic stress disorder occurred with equal frequency among Vietnam veterans with PTSD and Vietnam veterans free of the disorder, and that these features also commonly occurred among currently serving military personnel with no overseas service.
