Dissertation
Characterisation of a protease-dependent gene regulation system for gene therapy applications
TL;DR: This paper aims to provide a history of the field and some of the techniques used in its development, as well as some of its subsequent publications, to help clarify its aims and aims.

Means to an end : apoptosis and other cell death mechanisms
TL;DR: The author explains how cell death defends the body against cancer and traces the evolutionary origins of the apoptosis machinery back over a billion years in a clear and comprehensive view of apoptosis and other cell death mechanisms.
Journal ArticleDOI
High expression levels of x-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein and survivin correlate with poor overall survival in childhood de novo acute myeloid leukemia.
Ingo Tamm,Stephan Richter,Doreen Oltersdorf,Ursula Creutzig,Jochen Harbott,Frank Scholz,Leonid Karawajew,Wolf-Dieter Ludwig,Christian Wuchter +8 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that apoptosis-related molecules are associated with maturation stage, cytogenetic risk groups, and therapy outcome in childhood de novo AML.
Journal ArticleDOI
Overexpression of XIAP expression in renal cell carcinoma predicts a worse prognosis.
Yoichi Mizutani,Hiroyuki Nakanishi,Yong Nan Li,Hiroki Matsubara,Kosuke Yamamoto,Nodoka Sato,Takumi Shiraishi,Terukazu Nakamura,Kazuya Mikami,Koji Okihara,Natsuki Takaha,Osamu Ukimura,Akihiro Kawauchi,Norio Nonomura,Benjamin Bonavida,Tsuneharu Miki +15 more
TL;DR: The present study demonstrates at the protein level that XIAP is overexpressed in RCC, and that high XIAP expression inRCC predicted a worse prognosis, and suggests that downregulation or inhibition of XIAPexpression in R CC may reverse immune resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI
X-linked Inhibitor of Apoptosis: A Chemoresistance Factor or a Hollow Promise
TL;DR: The notion is explored that the elevated XIAP expression frequently observed in malignant tissues is, at least, not exclusively responsible for the resistance of tumor cells to conventional therapeutic treatment; rather, the function of XIAP seems to be conducive to the process of malignant transformation and/or progression.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression of X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein in human colorectal cancer and its correlation with prognosis.
TL;DR: The objective of this study was to evaluate the prognostic significance of XIAP expression in colorectal cancer (CRC).
