By understanding how social media can be used properly, an organization can then make an educated decision as how they want to implement it and whether aspects of it should even be utilized.
Drawing upon social media governance discourse and research on the dynamics of how social media platforms are being used in the dissemination and consumption of news and information, this article argues that a restrictive and individualist model of the public interest characterizes the social media space.
Based on our results, we derive several implications for SMEs, in particular how to overcome the obstacles to a wider adoption of social media.
I argue that social media posses an important potential that is grounded in the congruent philosophies of the two concepts 'social media' and 'social change.'
This paper advances our understanding of how journalists appropriate social media in their professional lives by examining the changes in social media use across time.
I suggest that Social Media and Society will be substantially focused on questions of social change.
