What is this paper about: https://doi.org/10.1177/0008125619862257?4 answersThe paper with the DOI link https://doi.org/10.1177/0008125619862257 discusses various topics based on the provided contexts. It reflects on the denial of reality surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, including denial of scientific data, therapeutic benefits of vaccines, and health policies, particularly observed in the no-vax movements. Additionally, it delves into the evolution of the state in Western Europe, focusing on the development of modern democratic regimes and the transition from disorder and violence to structured governance in Western European societies. Furthermore, the paper explores implementing digital literacy education within Toraja culture from a Christian perspective, emphasizing communication and interaction within daily life and the cultural renewal through Christian education.
What this paper is about?4 answersThe first paper analyzes the genre features of Holocaust testimonies, including different types of testimonies and their contribution to complicating the genre system of literary-scientific types. The second paper is a case study of the experience of developing and using systems for evaluating the quality and effectiveness of scientific research in Western European countries. It discusses the key organizational and methodical approaches for assessing research effectiveness, including expert quality assessment and quantitative indicators. The third paper reflects on the denial of reality of the covid-19 pandemic and the denial of data from scientific research, particularly in the context of the no-vax movements. It explores possible psychopathological pictures and the role of psychiatrists in understanding and managing this phenomenon. The fourth paper presents the first historical record of contamination in Lesotho, a region in southern Africa, using lake sediments and wetland peats as archives of changes in anthropogenic inputs. The fifth paper researches the methodological frameworks of Perdarag Palavestra's work and his contribution to the study of Serbian literature. It reviews the development of Palavestra's literary-historical methodology and its importance in the context of the methodology of the science of literature.
What is this paper?4 answersThe paper is an attempt at a synthetic presentation of one research area in phraseology and paremiology, namely the evidence of old material culture preserved in fixed multi-word units. The author considers previous achievements in this field and indicates the options for completing new tasks connected with collecting, describing and analyzing multverbisms motivated by material culture realia, and with an attempt at popularizing scientific reflection on this topic. Computer hardware systems become more and more complex, software and tools lag more and more behind. This is especially true for scientific software that often demands high performance, and thus needs to take advantage of parallelisms, memory hierarchies and other software and systems. How do we help bridge this ever-increasing gap? This paper describes some of my experiences and thoughts regarding licensing, code sharing, code maintenance, open access publishing, and education and training. Lake sediments and wetland peats provide valuable archives of changes in anthropogenic inputs into natural ecosystems. Sediments of remote mountain lakes are particularly useful because contaminants in these settings are solely derived from atmospheric deposition. This study presents the first historical record of contamination for Lesotho, a hydrologically important region in southern Africa, exporting about 35% of the water used in the Gauteng/Mpumalanga urban-industrial complex in South Africa. The paper is a part of an ongoing discussion on various topics of historical Slavic accentology with Frederik Kortlandt. The topics discussed in the paper are: the reflex of the Proto-Slavic short neo-acute in Kajkavian; the reflex of pretonic and posttonic length in West and South Slavic; the reconstruction of the ending *-ъ in Slavic genitive plural, its accentuation, and the ending -ā in Stokavian and Slovene; the lengthening of the bȏg ‘god’ and kȍkōt ‘rooster’ type in Western South Slavic; the *oborna ‘defense’ and *cьrnĩna ‘blackness’ type accent and retractions of contractional neo-circumflexes; the reflex of Slavic *o in Slovak and Czech monosyllables; and the valence theory and Proto-Indo-European origin of Balto-Slavic accentuation. This paper explores 22 same-sex couples’ views on civil partnership and marriage. The data are drawn from the qualitative phase of a larger study of money management and relational practices in same-sex relationships. Twenty-seven participants indicated that they were more or less likely to register their relationship as a civil partnership, 10 described themselves as undecided about partnership recognition, and six signalled a lack of interest in civil partnership (and one provided no codeable data). This summary necessarily glosses over the complexity of the data and the ways in which they are underpinned by ambivalence, contradiction, and different ways of conceptualising civil partnership, marriage, relationship recognition and celebration. We explore this complexity by presenting six themes running through the participants’ talk about civil partnership and marriage. The paper concludes with a discussion of these findings in relation to the (limited) existing empirical literature on same-sex marriage and relationship recognition.

What is this paper about https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pgph.0000609?5 answersThis paper discusses the variation in the placement of clitic pronouns in European and Brazilian Portuguese. The authors argue that this variation is due to two properties that differ between the two languages: syntactic and morpho-phonological. They provide an analysis of clitic placement in both tensed and infinitival clauses and explain the observed variation in certain contexts. The analysis is supported by a comparison between the original version of Paulo Coelho's novel and its European adaptation. The authors also incorporate historical data into their explanation, showing how it can be integrated with the synchronic facts.
