TL;DR: A zero-current arc-suppression circuit breaker arrangement with a series circuit consisting of a circuit breaker and a diode was proposed in this paper, where the diode maintains the circuit breaker current at a predetermined level for a predetermined period of time.
Abstract: A zero-current arc-suppression circuit breaker arrangement having a series circuit including a capacitor power source previously charged and a switch connected in parallel with a series circuit formed of a circuit breaker and a diode. Upon operation, the capacitor power source provides a reverse current for reducing the current flowing to the circuit breaker to a zero-current level and the diode maintains the circuit breaker current at the zero-current level for a predetermined period of time. When the contacts of the circuit breaker are separated during this period, no arc plasma is generated to protect the circuit breaker from damage.

TL;DR: In this paper, a contactor assembly for rapidly and repeatedly electronically testing surface-mounted integrated circuits (IC's), in conjunction with a test handler, is described, where rows of flexible, slightly bent, cantilevered contacts are deformed into a plane parallel to the device when undergoing the electronic test.
Abstract: A contactor assembly for rapidly and repeatedly electronically testing surface-mounted integrated circuits (IC's), in conjunction with a test handler. The contactor assembly has rows of flexible, slightly bent, cantilevered contacts which are deformed into a plane parallel to the device when undergoing the electronic test. A conductive plate or plates including a capacitor or capacitors is positioned parallel to and closely spaced from the device under test ("DUT"). The capacitor is a decoupler and acts to minimize ground noise during current surges. Ground cables interleaved with signal cables, and in some embodiments the signal lines interacting with other elements of the assembly, cooperate to produce generally "characteristic" (purely resistive) impedance to a fast rising test signal. The assembly may include a plug which fits into a socket designed for the DUT.

TL;DR: In this article, an alternate or push-push switch mechanism effects movement of a contact actuator (28) from one stable position to another stable position upon a single depression of a pushbutton operator (34,38,40,42,44).
Abstract: An alternate or push-push switch mechanism effects movement of a contact actuator (28) from one stable position to another stable position upon a single depression of a pushbutton operator (34,38,40,42,44). Actuator movement causes a spring loaded plunger (28a) to traverse a surface of a normally open contactor (54) to effect momentary contact closure with a stationary contact (46a) during the movement of the actuator and plunger. The duration of contact closure may be controlled or modified by providing a cam on the contactor surface for engagement by the plunger. Two such switches (20a,20b) are employed in series in a control circuit for a manufacturing machine (M) whereby both switches must be operated by a human operator of the machine within the closure duration interval of the contacts of the individual switches to complete the control circuit for the machine.

Abstract: A circuit breaker, notably breaking the phase and neutral circuit, contains a shunt circuit, constituted by a switching electrode disposed in proximity to the phase contacts to pick up an arc drawn between these contacts, when opening occurs on a short-circuit Transferring the arc onto the switching electrode closes a shunt circuit, creating an internal short-circuit protecting the cables and receivers downstream from the circuit breaker The shunt circuit is broken when the arc is blown out in the arc chute Fast shifting of the arc protects the contact surfaces, notably of the neutral contacts, enabling these contacts to be used for an impulse relay or remote-controlled contactor function

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain an optimum refrigerating cycle to meet a load by controlling an output frequency of an inverter in response to an air conditioning load, and selectively supplying an output of the inverter and a commercial power source output to a compressor in response to an air conditioning load. CONSTITUTION: At the time of operating, a controller 50 detects an air conditioning load in response to a detected pressure of a pressure sensor 40, turns ON contactors 51, 52 in the case of the low load to maintain a switching unit 30 in a non-operating state, further controls an output frequency F of an inverter 20 to inverter drive, a compressor 1. And, when the frequency becomes a highest output frequency Fmax as the air conditioning load is increased, a contactor 53 is closed, the unit 30 is operated, the compressor 1 is switched to a commercial power source drive, and the compressor 2 is inverter driven. But, as the conditioning load is increased, the frequency F is increased, while as the load is decreased, the frequency F is decreased. When it becomes a lowest output frequency Fmin, the contactor 53 is opened, the unit 30 is stopped, the inverter drive of the compressor 2 is stopped to switch the compressor 1 to an inverter drive.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To prevent an abnormal temperature rise and burning by incorporating a temperature sensor into a brake resistor, detecting the temperature rise of the brake resistor and interrupting currents fed from a rectifier. CONSTITUTION: AC power 1 is converted into DC power by a rectifier 1 and a smoothing capacitor 6, and an induction motor 2 is operated through an inverter 3 by DC power. The inverter device makes a brake resistor 4 consume regenerative energy by back electromotive force. A temperature sensor 1 being incorporated into the brake resistor 4 and detecting the temperature of the brake resistor, a second electromagnetic contactor 15, excitation of which is released by a driver circuit 12 receiving a detecting signal from the temperature sensor 14, and a contact 16 for the contactor 15 are added at that time. Consequently, when a transistor 5 for controlling the brake resistor continues a conductive state, the temperature sensor 14 is broken and the excitation of the second electromagnetic contactor 15 is released through the driver circuit 12 when the temperature of the resistor 4 rises and reaches a fixed temperature. Accordingly, the contact 16 is broken, and currents to the brake resistor 4 are interrupted. COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio

Abstract: The circuit breaker-contactor includes a circuit breaker part with mechanical contacts and a contactor part with mechanical contacts connected in series. A solid-state switch is connected in parallel to the contacts of the contactor part. A control unit controls the solid-state switch and the contactor part, in such a way as to close the circuit when the potential difference passes zero by conduction or interrupting the solid-state switch. TL;DR: In this article, a two-part fluid contactor is proposed for liquid-fluid contactor for nuclear fuel reprocessing, where the first and second fluids are introduced into the annular regions, and a mixture of the two fluids are transferred into the settling compartments.
Abstract: Present invention relates to two-part fluid contactors for application in fluid-fluid contacting processes such as liquid-liquid extraction processes used in nuclear fuel reprocessing. The contactor has a first part and a second part with a plurality of annular regions located between the first and second parts and a plurality of settling compartments disposed sequentially along the axis of rotation of the contactor. TL;DR: In this article, a vital switch control circuit for a railroad switch machine includes a permanent magnet motor which is immune to stray or induced a.c. currents, and which is operable to either of two directions depending on the polarity of energy applied thereto.
Abstract: A vital switch control circuit for a railroad switch machine includes a permanent magnet motor which is immune to stray or induced a.c. currents, and which is operable to either of two directions depending on the polarity of energy applied thereto. Switch-normal and switch-reverse contacts of a switch request relay logic circuit establish alternate positive and negative-current paths which are connected over a minimum number of line wires to a motor control contact arrangement and to a mechanically-interlocked, dual-coil, reversing contactor. The reversing contact is operable only above a specific d.c. voltage, therefore providing low-level d.c. immunity in case of grounding or cross-over conditions arising in the line wires. A reverse motor contact and a normal motor contact are used to alternately establish negative-current paths to the permanent magnet motor. Other reverse and normal motor contacts allow energization of the coils of the reversing contactor which have associated normal and reverse contacts, and over which the positive-current paths are established to the permanent magnet motor.
