TL;DR: The retention behaviour of the main dicarboxylic porphyrin, haemato-, deutero-, meso- and protoporphyrins, together with the Fe, Co, Cu and Zn complexes of mesi- andprotoporphyrs have been systematically studied and hydrophobic chromatography with methanol-ammonium acetate buffer systems on reversed-phase columns provided the best selectivity, efficiency and resolution.

Abstract: The 13C n.m.r, spectra of the 15 isomeric protoporphyrin dimethyl esters have been determined. Measurements were made on the zinc chelate derivatives of the porphyrins in the presence of pyrrolidine and assignments are given for the side chain and methine carbon atoms.
