Abstract: Upon receiving a keystroke indicator signal from a remote control device, a key code generator device identifies a codeset usable to communicate with a selected consumer device. The keystroke indicator signal contains an indication of a pressed key, which corresponds to a function of the selected consumer device. Using the identified codeset and the key indication, the key code generator device generates a key code and modulates that key code onto a radio frequency carrier signal, thereby generating a first key code signal. The remote control device receives the first key code signal from the key code generator device and modulates the key code onto an infrared frequency carrier signal, thereby generating a second key code signal. The remote control device relays the key code to the selected consumer device in the second key code signal. The key code causes the selected consumer device to perform the desired function.

When the sensor units detect a problem, then they send an alert to the base unit, which then relays the alert to the remote control device that is preferably a smart phone, tablet, or the like, including software for operating the system. The system may also incorporate smart outlets that are remotely operable by the remote control device, various monitors, a touchscreen, and wearable tracking devices to monitor a person within the home. The system is designed to provide security, home system monitoring, personal medical monitoring, and remote control of various electrical appliances. The system may also be controlled by using oral commands.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods that operate a wearable heads-up display (“WHUD”) as a remote controller to wirelessly control at least one other electronic device are described. The WHUD displays a visual control interface including a set of user-selectable icons that each correspond to a respective function for the electronic device under wireless/remote control. The WHUD includes an eye tracker that detects when the user is looking/gazing at a particular one of the icons in the visual control interface. The user provides an indication that he/she wishes to select the particular icon at which he/she is gazing/looking (e.g., by dwelling his/her gaze on the particular icon or by performing a selection action via a separate portable interface device). In response, the WHUD wirelessly transmits a signal that provides data and/or instructions for the electronic device under wireless/remote control to effect the particular function selected by the user.

Abstract: With numerous connected devices and appliances, the smart home is one of the representative fields of Internet of Things (IoT). As the complexity of devices/appliances increase, numerous buttons (sometimes dozens) are designed on the remote controller in home spaces even if several of them are seldom used. A user may be confused with the controller even if he or she only intends to perform a simple operation. This confusion also leads to a higher probability of mal-operations. In addition, conventional methods of communication between remote controllers and connected devices, such as eXtensible Markup Language (XML) messages, are usually bandwidth-consumptive. To address these problems, an intelligent universal remote control system for home appliances named Point-n-Press is proposed. Point-n-Press addresses the directionality feature, which enables easy and intuitive control by pointing to the target device to display the target's control interface on the screen of the remote controller. By leveraging the state dependencies of home device/appliance operations, only functional buttons that are relevant to the current context are utilized. Two real prototypes are implemented to verify the feasibility of the proposed scheme. The evaluation results show that Point-n-Press is a useful and suitable control scheme for IoT-based smart homes.

Providing wireless communication between the remote control, which is a mobile device 14, and a control system 18 of the vehicle 10, wherein the messages 22, 24 are specified in the protocol. Providing a dead mans switch 26 (also in figures 2 to 4) for the mobile device, operable by a user 12. Operating the motor vehicle by remote control as long as the user engages with the dead-mans switch, and as long as the communication protocol is agreed upon by both the mobile device and the control device of the vehicle. This invention provides a safe method for operating a vehicle remotely, as it ensures that if there was a failure in communication or the operator was no long present or release the switch, the vehicle would stop operating. The communication protocol may include health and status information of the mobile device. The communication can also consist of screen coordinate and manoeuver data. The dead-mans switch may be formed as a virtual operating device displayed on a screen, such as a touch screen. The method may be particularly useful when parking a car. The time to activate the remote control may be based on one or more factors, including the current presentation position and/or presentation speed of the video program. A remote control device may take additional actions the next time it listens for data, including illuminating backlights, turning on a display, displaying content on the display, interacting with other devices, etc.

Abstract: This project presents the overall design of Home Automation System (HAS) with low cost and wireless/voice command remote control. This system is designed to assist and provide support in order to fulfil the needs of people. Also, the smart home concept in the system improves the standard living at home. The main control system implements wireless/voice command technology to provide remote access from smart phone. The design remains the existing electrical switches and provides more safety control on the switches with low voltage activating method. The switches status is synchronized in all the control system whereby every user interface indicates the real time existing switches status. The system intended to control electrical appliances and devices in house with relatively low cost design, user-friendly interface and ease of installation.

The method comprises the following steps: first, converting the format of electronic slides into a webpage display format, and storing the electronic slides in a server; then, remotely selecting and remotely playing the electronic slides, synchronously recording live presentation speech when playing the electronic slides through operation at a client, and storing the operation information in the server; and finally, uploading the live presentation speech to the server, packaging the live presentation speech, the operation information and the electronic slides, storing the PPT package in the server, parsing the operation information data, and synchronously playing the slide content and the speech. The device comprises a server, and a first client and a second client which are in communication connection with the server. According to the invention, the slides are remotely controlled, and slide speech is synchronously recorded in the remote control process, so that the problem that the traditional video recording process is complex and costs high, the problem that it is difficult to share a large video online, and the like are well solved.

A remote alarm unit accompanies to the work crew to alarm them of traffic entering the work zone without authorization or at unsafe speed.
