TL;DR: Results that combine the feature-based and freeform deformation design techniques into one 2-stage cad design approach are presented, showing how this integration produces significant value in practical industrial surface design by combining the advantages offered by each method.
Abstract: A feature-based procedural method has been presented for designing a smooth surface that can be explicitly described as the graph of a single-valued bivariate function z = f(x, y) Such surfaces often occur in practice in manufacturing involving stamping or injection moulding operations (for example in car inner panels, brackets, beer cans, and electronic consumer products) Operationally, the design approach entails modifying the shape of an existing surface by sequentially adding arbitrarily shaped protrusions and pockets to it Sederberg and Parry proposed a versatile technique for deforming existing geometric objects in a freeform manner Their technique turned on the use of trivariate, parametric Bernstein polynomials, and it can be applied either locally or globally Unlike the author's feature-based method, in which the design process is carried out by direct manipulation of the surface model, freeform deformation is independent of the geometric model being deformed The paper presents results that combine the feature-based and freeform deformation design techniques into one 2-stage cad design approach Although nothing that is technically new is offered in either of the individual stages, the paper illustrates how this integration produces significant value in practical industrial surface design by combining the advantages offered by each method These include the intuitive, fast, easily modifiable feature-based design of complicated surfaces (that need not be graphs of a function), and the ability to make substantial, predictable and physically meaningful changes in surface geometry by the manipulation of shaping parameters (feature parameters and control points) The author's experience with the design of multifeature automotive sheet metal panels indicates that combining the two cad methods allows parts to be designed that cannot be designed using either method alone

TL;DR: In this article, an apparatus is disclosed having one or more punching or stamping tools and a corresponding number of support tools for mating with each punching and stamping tool, which is adapted to form dimples, impressions, cuts, apertures or otherwise similarly modify the surface of a sheet metal blank, and in which the punching and support tools are both movably provided along a supporting structure formed from two elongated and parallel spaced beam members.
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed having one or more punching or stamping tools and a corresponding number of support tools for mating with each punching or stamping tool. The apparatus is adapted to form dimples, impressions, cuts, apertures or otherwise similarly modify the surface of a sheet metal blank, and in which the punching and support tools are both movably provided along a supporting structure formed from two elongated and parallel spaced beam members. Each beam member supports one of the punching tool, or stamping tool, and the support tool in a spaced relationship whereby the tools may be aligned and activated in punching or stamping operation to punch or stamp a portion of a blank positioned therebetween. A conveyer is provided to move the blank between the tools so that the portion of the blank to be modified is moved to a position intersecting the path of movement of the punching or stamping tool and the supporting tool. The advancement of the blank on the conveyor and/or the movement of the punching or stamping tool and the support tool along the supporting structure is controlled so that dimples, apertures, and the like may be formed at any desired portion of the blank.

TL;DR: In this paper, the developed process of tape casting with subsequent stamping is a promising way to make three-dimensional ceramic microstructures, which are characterised by lateral dimensions in the micron range and high aspect ratios.
Abstract: The developed process of tape casting with subsequent stamping is a promising way to make three-dimensional ceramic microstructures. Examples of different ceramic materials illustrate, that a good quality of the moulding with high form fit can be attained after optimisation of the slurry and the stamping process. The sintered microstructures are characterised by lateral dimensions in the micron range and high aspect ratios. The unique properties of ceramic materials in combination with this new process can be used to produce microstructured ultrasonic transducers or micro heat exchangers/reactors.

TL;DR: The rotary stamping disk has at least one circumferential row of stamping dies for each of the plurality of cylindrical filled food shells, such that the rows of stamps on the rotary disk partition the plurality into a plurality of rows of filled food segments as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A method for increasing efficiency in a co-extrusion process for producing filled food products. The present method includes providing multiple co-extrusion dies with parallel aligned outlets extruding a plurality of parallel elongated cylindrical filled food shells containing a filler material along the predetermined path. The rotary stamping disk has at least one circumferential row of stamping dies for each of the plurality of cylindrical filled food shells, such that the circumferential rows of stamping dies on the rotary stamping disk partition the plurality of cylindrical filled food shells into a plurality of rows of filled food segments.

TL;DR: A stencil stamp assembly embodying the invention has a comparatively small size, high ink holding capacity, excellent stamping durability and is capable of stamping images having a high print quality.
Abstract: A stencil stamp assembly embodying the invention has a comparatively small size, high ink holding capacity, excellent stamping durability and is capable of stamping images having a high print quality. The stencil stamp includes a handgrip (2) and a stencil stamp assembly (4). The stencil stamp assembly includes an ink bearing member (27) covered with a thermal stencil sheet (28). The thermal stencil sheet has a plurality of pores on holes arranged in a pattern. During a stamping action, ink from the ink bearing member is forced through the pores in the stencil sheet and onto a recording sheet to form a stamped image on the recording sheet. The ink bearing member has at least two layers (27A;27B) having difference densities. The less dense layer is in contact with the thermal stencil sheet. The least dense layer provides a large ink storage capacity. The more dense layer has a higher ink holding capacity, which reduces the potential for ink leakage. The more dense layer is also more firm, which reduces creasing and distortion of the stencil sheet both during stamping and during formation of the pore pattern in the stencil sheet.

TL;DR: A post-hot metal deposition process applied to semiconductor wafer manufacturing in order to increase the size of grain structures and improve electromigration resistance in semiconductor devices is described in this article.
Abstract: A post-hot metal deposition process applied to semiconductor wafer manufacturing in order to increase the size of grain structures and improve electromigration resistance in semiconductor devices. A highly ductile metal is first deposited onto a semiconductor substrate having contact points in a partial vacuum. A forge is applied to the substrate--with the highly ductile metal deposited thereon, to form a smooth conductive surface on the substrate, even at the contact points. The forging is done at an appropriate pressure and temperature to perform hot-working of the metal onto the contact points of the substrate. The forge may be used to emboss a conductor image of the highly ductile metal deposited on the substrate. The forging process may be performed by either stamping a surface onto the substrate or by rolling a surface onto the substrate.

TL;DR: In this paper, isolated valleys act simultaneously as traps for wear debris and as practically frictionless, high pressure oil pockets, participating in overall load carrying in laser textured steel sheets retained for difficult stamping situations.
Abstract: Among the laser textured steel sheets retained for difficult stamping situations those with isolated, non communicating valleys are shown to be especially interesting. Such isolated valleys act simultaneously as traps for wear debris and as practically frictionless, high pressure oil pockets, participating in overall load carrying. These results are substantiated by 3D profilometry before and after friction to analyse specific residual roughness and friction-induced surface damage on the load carrying plateaux.
