TL;DR: In this paper, the thermal energy storage characteristics of a packed bed thermal storage device (PBTESD) filled with spherical phase change capsules are analyzed, and the effects of Reynolds number, Stefan number, dimensionless diameter and effective thermal conductivity of phase change material (PCM) on the temperature evolution trend and thermal performance of PBTESDs were investigated by single factor analysis.

TL;DR: In this paper, an approximate eigenfunction-based solution for the temperature distribution and propagation of the phase change front with time is derived, which may be interpreted as a generalization of the classical quasistationary method.

TL;DR: In this article, the phase change materials (PCMs) were initially subcooled by 2.5, 7.5 and 22.5 µm, respectively, to estimate the amount of liquid PCMs required for the onset of convection based on PCM properties, geometry and operational conditions.

TL;DR: In this paper, a front-tracking fixed grid method for solving the Stefan problem with moving phase change materials in any arbitrary (irregular) bounded domains is proposed, where the governing partial differential equations are transformed, using a curvilinear coordinate transformation, in to a fixed rectangular domain, at each time level and an alternate direction implicit (ADI) scheme is used to solve the resultant differential system.
