A review of using object-orientation properties of C++ for designing expert system in strategic planning

The pay-and-use approach is the basis for the cloud computing services that are currently popular. Resource management is one of the more difficult tasks since it takes a while to identify requests and determine what kind of resources are needed to satisfy the customer's needs. Resource provisioning's goal is to identify and make available the right resources depending on user workload's QoS needs so that applications may make efficient use of the resources. The CSPs now offer advanced resource reserves for both short- and long-term periods. Cloud brokers are required to manage the on-demand cloud resource and maintain track of the SLA list of resource providers for their individual cloud customers in our suggested algorithm RSCC (Reservation System for Cloud Computing). According to the user's needs and cost, the RSCC algorithm functions as a flexible reservation that can accommodate a variety of services. The numerical findings demonstrated that the suggested long-term resource planning method was able to produce operational costs that were almost ideal.

Osmotic computing in association with related computing paradigms (cloud, fog, and edge) emerges as a promising solution for handling bulk of security-critical as well as latency-sensitive data generated by the digital devices. It is a growing research domain that studies deployment, migration, and optimization of applications in the form of microservices across cloud/edge infrastructure. It presents dynamically tailored microservices in technology-centric environments by exploiting edge and cloud platforms. Osmotic computing promotes digital transformation and furnishes benefits to transportation, smart cities, education, and healthcare. In this article, we present a comprehensive analysis of osmotic computing through a systematic literature review approach. To ensure high-quality review, we conduct an advanced search on numerous digital libraries to extracting related studies. The advanced search strategy identifies 99 studies, from which 29 relevant studies are selected for a thorough review. We present a summary of applications in osmotic computing build on their key features. On the basis of the observations, we outline the research challenges for the applications in this research field. Finally, we discuss the security issues resolved and unresolved in osmotic computing.

A Systematic Review on Osmotic Computing

Cloud computing allows for resource management through various means. Some of these include brokering, scheduling, elasticity and
capacity planning and these processes helps in facilitating service utilization. Determining a particular research area especially in terms
of resources management and scalability in the cloud is usually a cumbersome process for a researcher, hence the need for reviews and
paper surveys in identifying potential research gaps. The objective of this work was to carry out a systematic mapping study of resources
management and scalability in the cloud. A systematic mapping study offers a summarized overview of studies that have been carried
out in a particular area of interest. It then presents the results of such overviews graphically using a map. Although, the systematic
mapping process requires less effort, the results are more coarse-grained. In this study, analysis of publications were done based on their
topics, research type and contribution facets. These publications were on research works which focused on resource management,
scheduling, capacity planning, scalability and elasticity. This study classified publications into research facets viz., evaluation, validation,
solution, philosophical, option and experience and contribution facets based on metrics, tools, processes, models and methods used.
Obtained results showed that 31.3% of the considered publications focused on evaluation based research, 19.85% on validation and 32%
on processes. About 2.4% focused on metric for capacity planning, 5.6% focused on tools relating to resource management, while 5.6
and 8% of the publications were on model for capacity planning and scheduling method, respectively. Research works focusing on
validating capacity planning and elasticity were the least at 2.29 and 0.76%, respectively. This study clearly identified gaps in the field of
resources management and scalability in the cloud which should stimulate interest for further studies by both researchers and industry
practitioners.

A Systematic Mapping Study of Cloud Resources Managementand Scalability in Brokering, Scheduling, Capacity Planning andElasticity

The absence of real time energy consumption information (RTECI) has often made electricity users in many developing countries to be at loggerheads with their service providers. A cloud based metering infrastructure is developed as a viable solution. This paper offers basic information regarding cloud based advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) for analysis in extended smart green energy management system (e-SGEMS). The system has novel flexibilities in automated energy monitoring platform for both end-users and their utility vendors. Lean system approach involving Software Development Life Cycle framework is applied. The system allows users to obtain their exact consumption pattern in Kw, Kw/Month and Kw/Year using a negligible cost reflective tariff of 0.17 as derived from a renewable metered micro-gird. The proposed system contrasts with existing systems in terms of full ISO 14000 quality assurance compliance metrics and on-demand/real time consumption profiling. MySQL and Java server page are used for the metering simulation and cloud integration. The hardware runs on C++ executable scripts. The system is validated through a full cycle usability tests in loaded and non-loaded case scenarios. This solution provides real-time access to energy consumption information at the point of metering in an access controlled cloud environment. Flexibility and cost effectiveness characterizes the system for smart grid mixed energy metering paradigm.

Enterprise energy analytic cloud portal for user-centric on-demand profile access in smart green energy management system

Network failure in cloud datacenter could result from inefficient resource allocation; scheduling and logical segmentation of physical machines (network constraints). This is highly undesirable in Distributed Cloud Computing Networks (DCCNs) running mission critical services. Such failure has been identified in the University of Nigeria datacenter network situated in the south eastern part of Nigeria. In this paper, the architectural decomposition of a proposed DCCN was carried out while exploring its functionalities for grid performance. Virtualization services such as resource allocation and task scheduling were employed in heterogeneous server clusters. The validation of the DCCN performance was carried out using trace files from Riverbed Modeller 17.5 in order to ascertain the influence of virtualization on server resource pool. The QoS metrics considered in the analysis are: the service delay time, resource availability, throughput and utilization. From the validation analysis of the DCCN, the following results were obtained: average throughput (bytes/Sec) for DCCN = 40.00%, DCell = 33.33% and BCube = 26.67%. Average resource availability response for DCCN = 38.46%, DCell = 33.33%, and BCube = 28.21%. DCCN density on resource utilization = 40% (when logically isolated) and 60% (when not logically isolated). From the results, it was concluded that using virtualization in a cloud DataCenter servers will result in enhanced server performance offering lower average wait time even with a higher request rate and longer duration of resource use (service availability). By evaluating these recursive architectural designs for network operations, enterprises ready for Spine and leaf model could further develop their network resource management schemes for optimal performance.

Evaluation of virtualized osmotic cloud network using discrete event Branch-and-Bound heuristics

As internet related challenges increase such as cyber-attacks, the need for safe practises among users to maintain computer system's health and online security have become imperative, and this is known as cyber-hygiene. Poor cyber-hygiene among internet users is a very critical issue undermining the general acceptance and adoption of internet technology. It has become a global issue and concern in this digital era when virtually all business transactions, learning, communication and many other activities are performed online. Virus attack, poor authentication technique, improper file backups and the use of different social engineering approaches by cyber-attackers to deceive internet users into divulging their confidential information with the intention to attack them have serious negative implications on the industries and organisations, including educational institutions. Moreover, risks associated with these ugly phenomena are likely to be more in developing countries such as Nigeria. Thus, authors of this paper undertook an online pilot study among students and employees of University of Nigeria, Nsukka and a total of 145 responses were received and used for the study. The survey seeks to find out the effect of age and level of education on the cyber hygiene knowledge and behaviour of the respondents, and in addition, the type of devices used and activities they engage in while on the internet. Our findings show wide adoption of internet in institution of higher learning, whereas, significant number of the internet users do not have good cyber hygiene knowledge and behaviour. Hence, our findings can instigate an organised training for students and employees of higher institutions in Nigeria.

Towards Determining the Effect of Age and Educational Level on Cyber-Hygiene.

The swiftly growing urban population of Nigeria is generating lots of tension in the cities in line with the rapid increase of vehicles. This is due to hitherto reliance on the present parking system which has no standard to check for parking spaces, hence generating problems such as traffic congestion, time wastage in search of parking slot, fuel consumption/CO emission, insecurity of vehicles etc. This work presents a quantitative statistical survey analysis conducted in selected metropolitan cities in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. The aim is to create awareness on Smart Car Parking System (SCPS) for heterogeneous clustered environments. The results of the conducted analysis showed that the awareness of this innovative technology is still at its tender stage in Nigeria. Findings shows that people are willing to adopt this new technology to assist in overcoming the challenges faced in the present parking system that is unstructured. A brief description of proposed SCPS based on Big data hardware is presented.
