Journal ArticleDOI

A rapid and potent natriuretic response to intravenous injection of atrial myocardial extract in rats

TL;DR: It is concluded that the atrial extract contained an extremely powerful inhibitor of renal tubular NaCl re absorption, which caused a rapid, more than 30-fold increase of sodium and chloride excretions, while urine volume and potassium excretion doubled.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pathophysiological role of changing atrial size and pressure in modulation of atrial natriuretic factor during evolving experimental heart failure.

TL;DR: The divergent time course of the changes in plasma atrial natriuretic factor concentration, pulmonary capillary wedge pressure, and left atrial dimension suggests that in this model, the release of atrial gynaecological factor becomes attenuated as severe heart failure develops.
