Microstructure and mechanical properties of Al-12Si produced by selective laser melting: Effect of heat treatment

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of annealing on microstructure and related tensile properties is examined and the results demonstrate that the mechanical behavior of the Al-12Si SLM samples can be tuned within a wide range of strength and ductility through proper annesaling treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of wear properties of commercially pure titanium prepared by selective laser melting and casting processes

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the wear properties of commercially pure titanium (CP-Ti) parts produced using selective laser melting (SLM) and casting, and they found that SLM-produced CP-Ti parts have martensitic (α΄) microstructure, whereas cast-produced PC-Ti samples exhibit plate-like (α)-microstructure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of heat treatment on microstructure and mechanical properties of 316L steel synthesized by selective laser melting

TL;DR: The influence of annealing at different temperatures (573, 873, 1273, 1373 and 1673 K) on the stability of 316L stainless steel fabricated by SLM has been investigated and the changes induced by the heat treatment have been used to understand the corresponding variations of the mechanical properties of the specimens under tensile loading as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of mechanical and wear properties of Ti-xNb-7Fe alloys designed for biomedical applications

TL;DR: In this article, the microstructural characteristic of the alloys with Nb addition and its effect on their mechanical properties as well as wear resistance were investigated. And the authors proposed that increasing the Nb content enhances β phase stability and its proportion in the microstructure of the designed alloys.
Journal ArticleDOI

Processing of Al–12Si–TNM composites by selective laser melting and evaluation of compressive and wear properties

TL;DR: In this article, selective laser melting (SLM) was used to produce the Al6MoTi intermetallic phase due to the reaction of the reinforcement with the Al-12Si matrix during SLM.
