Knowledge base for the systematic design of wet cooling towers. Part I: Selection and tower characteristics

TL;DR: In this article, a detailed methodology for the thermal design of wet, counterflow and crossflow types of mechanical and natural draught cooling towers is described, which includes selection of a cooling tower, determination of tower characteristic ratio; computation of moist air properties; determination of the ratio of the water-to-air loading; integration procedure for the tower's characteristic ratio.
Journal ArticleDOI

Knowledge base for the systematic design of wet cooling towers. Part II: Fill and other design parameters

TL;DR: In this article, the final part of the detailed methodology for the thermal design of wet, counterflow and crossflow types of mechanical and natural draught cooling towers is described, which includes the following design steps: the fill or packing, total packed height and the number of decks, water and air loading, pressure drop across the packing, natural draugh tower, fan design for a mechanical draugh cooling tower, blowdown and make-up water rate, water distribution systems and drift eliminators.

An analysis of energy use, energy intensity and emissions at the industrial sector of malaysia

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the energy consumption trend in Malaysian industrial sector for two years in 1988 and 1998, and the analysis shows that over all emission is 5 times in the year of 1998 compared to that of 1988.
