Temporal variations of water flow between the Venetian lagoon and the open sea
Miroslav Gačić,Isaac Mancero Mosquera,Vedrana Kovačević,A. Mazzoldi,Vanessa Cardin,Franco Arena,Giorgio Gelsi +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used bottom-mounted ADCPs to measure the water flow at three Venice Lagoon inlets with the bottom mounted ADCP and showed that the main part of the variance (>90%) is associated with the tidal variability.
Journal ArticleDOI
Toward an integrated HF radar network in the Mediterranean Sea to improve search and rescue and oil spill response: the TOSCA project experience
Lucio Bellomo,Annalisa Griffa,Simone Cosoli,Pierpaolo Falco,Riccardo Gerin,Ilaria Iermano,Alkiviadis Kalampokis,Zoi Kokkini,Aránzazu Lana,Marcello G. Magaldi,Ioannis Mamoutos,Carlo Mantovani,Julien Marmain,Emmanuel Potiris,Juan Manuel Sayol,Yves Barbin,Maristella Berta,Mireno Borghini,Antonio Bussani,Lorenzo Corgnati,Q. Dagneaux,Joel Gaggelli,P. Guterman,Didier Mallarino,A. Mazzoldi,Anne Molcard,Alejandro Orfila,Pierre-Marie Poulain,Céline Quentin,Joaquín Tintoré,Marco Uttieri,A. Vetrano,Enrico Zambianchi,Vassilis Zervakis +33 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a first organized core of 12 high-frequency (HF) radars installed in five sites in four countries (Greece, Italy, France and Spain) within the European MED project, the Tracking Oil Spill and Coastal Awareness (TOSCA) network.
Journal ArticleDOI
Validation of Surface Current Measurements in the Northern Adriatic Sea from High-Frequency Radars
TL;DR: In this article, the performances of a shore-based high-frequency (HF) radar network deployed along the coast of the Venice lagoon (northern Adriatic Sea) are discussed based on a comparison with a single bottom-mounted ADCP deployed in the shallow-water area offshore of the lagoon for a 40-day period in August-September 2005.
Journal ArticleDOI
HF radar observations in the northern Adriatic: surface current field in front of the Venetian Lagoon
TL;DR: In this paper, two HF radar stations looking seaward were installed along the littoral of the Venetian Lagoon (Northern Adriatic) and operated continuously for 1 year (November 2001-October 2002).
Journal ArticleDOI
Surface current variability and wind influence in the northeastern Adriatic Sea as observed from high-frequency (HF) radar measurements
TL;DR: In this paper, a network of HF radars operated in the northeastern Adriatic Sea in the period September 2007 to August 2008, and surface currents were collected with the purpose of studying the temporal and spatial modes of surface circulation in the area.
