A full tungsten divertor for ITER: Physics issues and design status
R.A. Pitts,S. Carpentier,Frederic Escourbiac,T. Hirai,V. Komarov,S.W. Lisgo,A.S. Kukushkin,A. Loarte,Mario Merola,A. Sashala Naik,R. Mitteau,Masayoshi Sugihara,B. Bazylev,P.C. Stangeby +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider the risks engendered by the baseline divertor strategy with regard to known W plasma-material interaction issues and briefly present the current status of a possible full-tungsten (W) divertor design.
Journal ArticleDOI
Progress on the application of ELM control schemes to ITER scenarios from the non-active phase to DT operation
A. Loarte,G. Huijsmans,Shimpei Futatani,Larry R. Baylor,Todd Evans,D. M. Orlov,Oliver Schmitz,Marina Becoulet,P. Cahyna,Y. Gribov,A. Kavin,A. Sashala Naik,David Campbell,T.A. Casper,E. Daly,H. Frerichs,A. Kischner,R. Laengner,S.W. Lisgo,R.A. Pitts,G. Saibene,Andreas Wingen +21 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors defined the requirements for edge localized mode (ELM) control and the application of ELM control methods both for high fusion performance DT operation and non-active low-current operation in ITER.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of a personal and environmental dosemeter based on CR-39 track detectors in quasi-monoenergetic neutron fields
TL;DR: The evaluation of the dosimetric capability of a detector based on a CR-39 solid-state nuclear track detector coupled to a 1 cm thickness of PMMA radiator showed a response that is almost independent of the neutron energy in the whole energy range.
Journal ArticleDOI
First results on modeling of ITER infrared images
M. Kocan,Roger Reichle,Marie-Hélène Aumeunier,J. P. Gunn,Shin Kajita,F. Le Guern,S.W. Lisgo,T. Loarer,A.S. Kukushkin,A.S. Kukushkin,A. Sashala Naik,Fabrice Rigollet,B. Stratton +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of the optical blur due to finite IR detector size and diffraction/aberrations-approximated by a Gaussian filter-on the measured T-surf is investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dose measurements with CR-39 detectors at the CERF reference facility at CERN
TL;DR: In this paper, a passive neutron dosimeter based on CR-39 track detectors has been successfully tested at the CERF facility at CERN, which generates a workplace neutron field similar to the one encountered at commercial flight altitude.
