Journal ArticleDOI
The solution structure of the first KH domain of FMR1, the protein responsible for the fragile X syndrome.
Giovanna Musco,Abdelhakim Kharrat,Gunter Stier,Franca Fraternali,Toby J. Gibson,Michael Nilges,A. Pastore +6 more
TL;DR: The structure and dynamics of the first KH domain of FMR1 reveal that an exposed loop is highly flexible despite containing a GxxG motif that is well conserved throughout the KH family and it is suggested that this region provides a putative binding surface for RNA recognition.
Journal ArticleDOI
Conformational stability studies of the pleckstrin dep domain: definition of the domain boundaries
Abdelhakim Kharrat,Stefania Millevoi,Elena Baraldi,Chris P. Ponting,Peer Bork,Peer Bork,Annalisa Pastore +6 more
TL;DR: Stability studies indicate that the regions surrounding the DEP domain do not contribute to its stability suggesting that the phosphorylation sites at S113, T114 and S117 are in an unstructured region.
Journal Article
Conformational stability studies of the pleckstrin DEP domain
Abdelhakim Kharrat,Stefania Millevoi,Elena Baraldi,Chris P. Ponting,Peer Bork,Annalisa Pastore +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the DEP module was identified by sequence analysis in the central region of pleckstrin and a new module, called DEP, has been proposed to mediate protein-protein and protein-lipid interactions.
