Journal ArticleDOI
A mutation in the voltage-gated sodium channel gene associated with pyrethroid resistance in Latin American Aedes aegypti.
Karla Saavedra-Rodriguez,Ludmel Urdaneta-Marquez,Shavanthi Rajatileka,Shavanthi Rajatileka,M. Moulton,Adriana E. Flores,Ildefonso Fernández-Salas,Juan A. Bisset,Mario H. Rodriguez,Philip J. McCall,Philip J. McCall,Martin J. Donnelly,Hilary Ranson,Hilary Ranson,Janet Hemingway,William C. Black +15 more
TL;DR: The tools and information presented provide a means for early detection and characterization of kdr that is critical to the development of strategies for resistance management and showed a high rate of recombination even though the two codons are only separated by a ~250 bp intron.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recent rapid rise of a permethrin knock down resistance allele in Aedes aegypti in México.
Gustavo Ponce García,Adriana E. Flores,Ildefonso Fernández-Salas,Karla Saavedra-Rodriguez,Guadalupe Reyes-Solis,Saul Lozano-Fuentes,J Guillermo Bond,Mauricio Casas-Martínez,Janine M. Ramsey,Julian E. Garcia-Rejon,Marco Dominguez-Galera,Hilary Ranson,Janet Hemingway,Lars Eisen,William C. Black +14 more
TL;DR: A dramatic increase in the frequency of the Ile1,016 mutation in the voltage-gated sodium channel gene of Ae.
Journal ArticleDOI
Parallel evolution of vgsc mutations at domains IS6, IIS6 and IIIS6 in pyrethroid resistant Aedes aegypti from Mexico
Karla Saavedra-Rodriguez,Farah Vera Maloof,Corey L. Campbell,Julian E. Garcia-Rejon,Audrey Lenhart,Patricia R. Penilla,Américo D. Rodríguez,Arturo Acero Sandoval,Adriana E. Flores,Gustavo Ponce,Saul Lozano,William C. Black +11 more
TL;DR: A novel replacement V410L was identified in Brazil and its effect on vgsc was confirmed by electrophysiology, and it was screened in 25 Ae.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanisms of insecticide resistance in field populations of aedes aegypti (l.) from quintana roo, southern mexico
Adriana E. Flores,Jaime Salomon Grajales,Ildefonso Fernández Salas,Gustavo Ponce García,Ma. Haydee Loaiza Becerra,Saul Lozano,William G. Brogdon,William C. Black,Barry J. Beaty +8 more
TL;DR: Elevated esterases suggest potential insecticide-resistance mechanisms against organophosphate, carbamate, and some pyrethroid insecticides.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prey stage preference and functional response of Euseius hibisci to Tetranychus urticae (Acari: Phytoseiidae, Tetranychidae)
TL;DR: The authors' results indicated that the predator consumed significantly more prey eggs than other prey stages, and the suitability of this predator for biological control of T. urticae on strawberry is discussed.
