Journal ArticleDOI
Amine boranes as alternative reducing agents for reductive alkylation of proteins.
TL;DR: Reductive alkylation under neutral to mild acid conditions allows modification of alkaline labile proteins and also limits the side reactions between proteins and formaldehyde.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure and Role of Carbohydrate in Freezing Point-depressing Glycoproteins from an Antarctic Fish
TL;DR: Some colorimetric chemical evidence favoring a 1–3 linkage is reported, which was proven to be of the β type by the release of the terminal galactose when small glycopeptides, obtained by hydrolysis of the glycoproteins with elastate, were incubated with β-galactosidase.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antifreeze glycoproteins from an Antarctic fish. Quasi-elastic light scattering studies of the hydrodynamic conformations of antifreeze glycoproteins.
TL;DR: A quasi-elastic light-scattering technique was used to study the hydrodynamic conformations of antifreeze glycoproteins from an Antarctic fish, and lowering the temperature of these glycoprotein solutions close to temperatures of freezing caused a decrease in the effective hydrod dynamic radius of both active and inactive glycop protein components.
